    • Oral remarks will be limited to 3 minutes per person.
    • Members of the press will be invited to attend the listening sessions, but will be instructed to not share any identifying information and/or images to protect the confidentiality of members of the public who choose to speak, absent explicit written permission from the individuals involved (and, if the individual is a minor, the press will be instructed not to share identifying information or images absent explicit written permission from the minor’s parent or guardian).
    • The Task Force is comprised of members from the New Jersey Division on Civil Rights; the New Jersey Department of Education; the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education; the New Jersey Department of Children and Families; the New Jersey Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness; the New Jersey State Police; the New Jersey Division of Criminal Justice; and the New Jersey Juvenile Justice Commission. The Task Force was created by Executive order in August 2019 in response to a recent increase in reported bias incidents in New Jersey’s schools and among New Jersey’s young people and is charged with, among other things, studying the root causes of hate, bias, and intolerance in New Jersey’s schools and universities and among New Jersey’s students and young adults and issuing a report of its findings and recommendations to the Governor and the Attorney General that will be made available to the public.
    • The content of all written and oral remarks and comments may be subject to disclosure under the New Jersey Open Public Records Act and may be included in the final written report mentioned above.
    • Individuals may use their initials or a pseudonym when registering to speak at the listening sessions, and individuals may submit written comments anonymously.
