• Youth Ministry Internship Application

    The Youth Ministry Internship is a semester long “apprentice” experience giving thestudent the opportunity to integrate the ministry knowledge and skills acquired inprevious course work with hands-on adolescent ministry. The primary focus is trainingby immersion through the mentoring of a ministry supervisor who will provide ministryopportunity, evaluation and discipleship for the intern. The goal of this training is toconfirm the burden to minister to youth as well as achieve reflective growth in the areasof Christian character and ministerial skill.

    • The student will reaffirm their burden and focus on ministering to adolescents.
    • Devote significant time and focus on training in youth ministry.
    • Experience a dynamic and multi faceted model of youth ministry.
    • Discover personal weaknesses and design an appropriate response plan.
    • Exercise spiritual gifting and ministerial skill in a ministry environment.
    • Be appropriately evaluated in a ministry setting to assess character and skill level.

    • A cumulative GPA of 2.0.
    • A GPA of 2.0 during the semester prior to internship.
    • Passed all courses during the semester prior to internship.
    • Completed a min of 100 credit hours upon the start of my internship.
    • In compliance with the conduct policies in the Student Handbook.

  • Internship Supervisor Mentor Information

    The Educational Ministries Department looks to the Internship Supervisor Mentor to fulfill an integral part in equipping the Intern for ministry. By virtue of their skills and experience in a ministry setting, he/she will be the primary supervisor and mentor of the Intern. Internship supervisors must have regular, direct supervision and interaction with the Intern during the duration of their time serving in the ministry! This should be pastoral in nature and should concentrate on the Interns encouragement in Christian Character and development in Ministerial Skill. (See the internship syllabus for a specific list in these areas)

  • Mentor Meeting Time

    One of the benefits that you will receive as an intern is to be trained by an experienced youth worker. It is essential that you arrange weekly meeting with your supervisor/mentor during the duration of your internship. This time should be for encouragement, prayer, reflection and evaluation directly related to your internship ministry.Our consistent meeting mentor/reflection time will be: (at least once/week)

    The Cultural of Modern Youth: (rationale) Know the implications of technology, adolescent sociology and secular worldviews in relation to the spiritual development of youth.

    Pastoral Orientation to Youth Ministry: (rationale) Promote faith ownership and leadership in adolescents through evangelism and discipleship with intentional care, direct guidance and informed counseling.

    Leadership and Administration: (rationale) Synthesize a comprehensive plan for youth ministry through the major organizational management components.
