We, the active Tennis community at VCC, are petitioning to have the ability to play Tennis (Singles or Doubles) under more severe restrictions. The Boards decision to suspend Tennis was supposedly primarily based on a National suggestion from the USTA. The Florida recommendations are covered in this link, and only restrict the tennis programs under their rules and regulations. https://www.ustaflorida.com/coronavirus/. We are in Fla, in a private community, not governed by the USTA, but by Gov. Desantis. Gov. Desantis’s most recent executive order 20-92 does not mention Tennis or Golf as suggested essential activities. It also does not indicate a mandated restriction. So why is Tennis suspended any Gold remains open?   This is unfair, and entirely representative of caution and fear of liability to the VCC Board and the VCC in general. We the active Tennis community would like this decision to be reconsidered with the addition of new stricter guidelines and a Zero Tolerance issue. 1) All players to sign an approved release form/waiver of liability, holding harmless the VCC Board and VCC from any liability. This would include both physical injury or heath infection (Covid-19) coming form the result of playing tennis. 2) All players must wear a Golf, Tennis or protective glove minimally on their non-racket hand to eliminate touching the Balls, Net, ect. We would consider a glove on both hands if mandated. 3) Remove the tables on court and do NOT allow personal chairs/tables to be brought in unless accompanied by a Doctor’s note, validating the need to sit and rest for health reasons. 4) All players must agree to continue to adhere to the social distancing requirements as outlined currently by the CDC and specifically VCC.  5) We are willing to transit to an approved on-line court assignment (managed by Tennis players), in lieu of having a physical sign-up sheet by the Tennis office to further eliminate groups congregating.  6) All players must agree that they are strictly following the stay at home order issued on 4-1 by Governor Desantis. 7) All balls must be purchased from the tennis office to control source and ONLY new balls can be used in Match play. They could be left at each court before our arrival, and the cost of balls charged to one of the players. 8) VCC should SHUT OFF all water fountains immediately. ALL players will be required to bring their own Gatorade, Water, or personal hydration. 9) VCC should install sanitizing wipes in a mounted dispenser, at each covered court area, just as they did at the entrance to the elevators in the Condominiums. 10) All players agree to no more than a 15-minute time to exit the Tennis facility after a match. No gatherings of anytime. There will be NO watching of Tennis from the benches unless next in line for the court. 11) All players agree to allow VCC full authority to mandate random or target testing of Covid -19. VCC would have to provide the test kits. If a player portrays suspect symptoms of Covid-19, VCC would have the right require that player to provide a negative test before returning to the courts. 12) All players agree to have their temperature taken randomly, prior to court entry, assuming that VCC can produce an infra-red hand held Thermometer
