  • WHAT IS ART THERAPY

Art therapy uses the creative process of art media in order to help the artist explore his inner feelings. This helps in stimulating one's self-awareness and manage behavior, and improvement in self-esteem. Sessions in art therapy also help you gain knowledge of the art. It is, however, best if the participant has certain knowledge in various art forms such as drawing, painting, drawing, painting, sculpture, and others.

  • RISKS, EXPECTATIONS, AND BENEFITS

Just like any therapy, you may find yourself in a difficult situation in discussing your emotions and may have uncomfortable feelings recalling painful memories. This is part of your journey. The key here is you have to be truthful in sharing with your therapist.

Art therapy intends to help one's self analyze how they feel through their artwork. Art helps to reveal one's emotions or shows his or her behavior, thoughts, or emotions.  Given its effects, some suggest that this kind of therapy helps boost one's mental health. However, there is no guarantee that this will be the same for everyone.

Art therapy is like counseling and does not require participants to have artistic skills to participate. Given its nature, this should be understood as a collaborative effort. Anyone can join from children up to adults.
