Ivybrook Academy Parent Health and Safety Commitment
Parent Health and Safety Commitment
As the educators of Ivybrook prepare for the upcoming school year in a way that takes into account the reality of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are asking our families to commit to follow additional health and safety guidelines and procedures, not only for the protection of their own student(s), but also out of love and consideration for others in our community. We know these new guidelines and procedures may be an inconvenience to you at times during this school year, but they will also give us the greatest chance of staying on campus and keeping our school community healthy. Please read the statements below that collectively make up this Parent Health and Safety Commitment, and then sign below to affirm your agreement to them.
Parent Pledge
As an Ivybrook family, and out of consideration for those around us, we commit to the following:
We commit to keep our student(s) home if they are sick, or suspected to be sick, for any reason.
We commit to follow all Ivybrook Academy’s health policies for students at school, physical distancing, and other requirements as needed for the health of our school community.
We commit to notifying the school, calling our health care provider, and isolating as recommended should our student(s), or any member of our household, develop fever, chills, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, a new cough, or a new loss of taste or smell.
We commit to notifying the school and quarantining/isolating per Ivybrook’s and Health Department guidelines if our student(s) or any member of our household is exposed to COVID-19 or tests positive for COVID-19.
During this time of increased risk of illness, we acknowledge and commit that our child will be fever free for 72 hours (without the use of fever reducing medications like Motrin or Tylenol) before sending them back to school (previously 24 hours were required).
If called to pick up our student(s) due to illness or suspected illness, we commit to coming as soon as possible to reduce exposure to other students and staff.
We commit to keeping Ivybrook educators updated with any health changes regarding our student(s), and to timely and accurate completion of any health screening forms that Ivybrook may ask us to submit through the Jotform platform, or any other tool that the school may use for collecting of health information.
We commit to transition and participate in digital learning in the event a cohort must be closed due to following the guidelines of the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. We recognize any closure will be temporary and we will return to in person learning as soon as we can ensure the health and safety of our students and educators.
Parent Acknowledgement of Risk & Release of Liability
As an Ivybrook family, we also acknowledge and agree to the following: We acknowledge that attending school involves some inherent risks for exposure to viruses (such as COVID-19) or other effects to the general health and well-being of our student(s), and we willfully accept and assume these inherent risks. We understand that it is impossible to eliminate all inherent risks and, because of this, we acknowledge that we have a responsibility, along with our student(s), to help reduce that risk by obeying all safety rules and reporting all physical and/or hygiene problems. We agree to hold harmless Ivybrook Academy and Ivybrook Academy employees from any and all claims arising from our student’s attendance at school, other than injuries or illnesses resulting from gross or willful negligence.
