MOAA (Malaysia Outdoor Arts Association) is proposing Buks In Georgetown (BIG) Festival to help fundraise for local musicians in Penang and Malaysia.
Plan:
- 3-day event;
- Will be held at the end of October (exact dates to be confirmed);
- The festival will cover 30 locations across Georgetown and Penang Island
- Each location will host different acts/musicians in 3 sessions covering during the day.
- Each session to be approx 60 mins
- Artists to perform at different locations throughout the weekend
Covid considerations:
- Artists will be required to wear a mask at all times. (No singing)
- Audiences will be spaced apart
- Hand sanitizers and sign-in stations at each location
Deal:
- The festival will pay a guarantee fee for each session per artist
Penang Government has permitted the practice of Busking for the festival. - Audiences will be encouraged to donate money to ‘the hat’.
- At the end of each session, musicians are entitled to all of the Hat money donated during the session.
Marketing:
- A full media and marketing campaign will accompany the festival to boost audience attendance.
- A printed programme and website will accompany the festival with details of artists and their social media links.
- Details of locations, guarantee fees, and marketing plans are being finalized.
