Dorothy M. Whitmire Global Memorial Scholarship Fund 2020

Scholarship Awarded to A Single Mother Pursuing an Education
  • The Dorothy M. Whitmire Global Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in 2020.  The scholarship is in honor of the late Dorothy M. Whitmire who passed suddenly on May 13, 2020. Dorothy was a teen mom and also a single mother the majority of her life.  She was not able to complete high school due to economic hardships and then she entered the workforce.  Although, Dorothy didn't finish high school she stressed the importance of obtaining an education.

Dorothy was a true humanitarian and a servant at heart. She did not know a stranger and helped many in her lifetime.  Dorothy feed, clothed, and housed many people.  She had such a way with words that everyone always listened to what she had to say. Dorothy had a doctorate in wisdom and common sense.

Dorothy was a woman that was full of faith and she often used her spiritual insight to encourage many. If you talked to Dorothy you would surely leave feeling uplifted and inspired.

Dorothy would often tell her children to obtain an education and she encouraged others to do the same.  She knew that getting an education would unlock so many doors.  Her daughter Tarinna Olley has established this scholarship to keep the legacy of Dorothy alive and to encourage single mothers to follow all of their dreams.
