Description:
Artists, Community, & Local Business come together to support Pilsen Arts & Community House.(PACH)
This annual fundraiser is to support the mission of the creative space PACH that has been working on bringing together its collective vision in its first year of operation.
The collaborative artistic culture created in this space has allowed many to share their work to the public. It is readily available for many artists and community members not just in Pilsen, but throughout Chicago and abroad as a home of limitless creativity to share with others. It exists because the community has maintained a need for accessible culture and art. PACH is steadfast in keeping this space alive and thriving in a continually changing neighborhood and city.
We are excited to be working in partnership with Cafe Jumping Bean, who for us, is the original Pilsen coffee shop that historically became the space in which many artists and activists gathered to organize so much of what makes Pilsen what it is today. We are committed to work together as an example of how the arts community and local business can support each other.
Cafe Jumping Bean is our first annual sponsor for the unique Coffee Cup Canvas in which Artists will be painting to be auctioned. They are also donating 5% of their sales from 12/11 - 12/13!

Note about the "Stay Woke" imagery & branding for this event:
The artwork was created by local artist Laura Gomez, who one winter day, while at work, drew this design on a paper coffee cup. In disguised office humor, she was able to playfully share it with coworkers in that environment. What appeared to be a fun doodle, for the artist of course had a deeper thought to it. She later took a linocut printmaking class with master printmaker Carlos Barberena whose work is known to be socially and politically driven. The final print of what started out as a coffee cup doodle has found its way to be the fitting imagery for this annual event in which we as artists and an arts organization have a platform to visually send messages through our work should we choose to do so. The term "Stay Woke" is definitely synonymous to the political and activist environment that is very much alive in Pilsen. The pairing of this statement with a cafe such as The Jumping Bean who has been in Pilsen for over 20 years and a supporter of all art and cultura in our community makes this imagery and statement even more meaningful. It aligns with the ideals we as an organization hold and makes it clear to our supporters and community that we are committed to each other as community members and local business. Working together we will strengthen our existence in such fragile times.
