  • Women and girls, whether it be through aspects of employment, including hiring, firing, pay, job assignments, promotions, and school, are constantly challenging and innovating. The last thing they should be discriminated against is because of their sex and their expecting children. Unknown territory, locomotion disparities, dealing with emotions, guilt, restless nights, tears, and negligible free time are all challenges women face and they should not simultaneously be placed at a disadvantage or inferior at school. This is UTRGV'S mission.

You may be qualified for support to preserve access to student services if you are a pregnant or parental student, including, though not limited to, admissions, school programs, events, as well as extracurricular activities.

  • Equitability and Title IX

  • It is crucial to know throughout this test that the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley is committed to building and sustaining a culture in which all people are free from any source of discrimination or prejudice.

In the United States Department of Education (ED) the Office for Civil Rights (OCR) holds the responsibility to enforce legislation that restricts discrimination in federally assisted educational programs and operations. Those regulations include Title IX of the 1972 Education Reforms (Title IX), which forbids gender-based discrimination in educational services or events. This includes prohibiting discrimination against pregnant and parenting students. This legislation must be complied in both public and private educational institutions that accept some federal financial funding.
