School counseling and guidance are very essential in a student's life, and schools have a huge part in bringing out the best in children. School counselors provide a comprehensive program that supports and promotes academic achievement, career and college readiness, and personal/socia development of each student. School counselors provide the following services: counseling and guidance - academic, personal/social, and college and career, classroom guidance curriculum, individual and small group planning, and individual and small group supportive counseling, and conducts screeners and assessments.
Following the updated guidelines from the district, all schools are required to use the Passive School Counseling Consent (Opt-Out The passive consent provides notice that parents and guardians, and/or students may allow school counseling services provided by the department. The use of the consent is effective for SY 2020 - - 2021.School counseling services cannot be provided to a student if the parent or guardian, and/or student "opt-out" (by signing the consent) from the services.
