Welcome to a short training and quiz we are asking all staff to complete. Before we start we ask you to read below and understand the seriousness of UV damage and skin cancer in Australia.
Some Quick Facts;
- Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world.
- Each year over 2,000 Australians die from skin cancer.
- Each year more than 13,000 Australians are diagnosed with a melanoma and almost 980,000 new cases of non-melanoma skin cancers are treated.
- 2 out of the 3 Australians will be diagnosed with Skin Cancer by the age of 70.
- The sun’s UV is the main cause of skin cancer. Too much UV exposure also causes sunburn, tanning, premature aging, and eye damage.
- Of all cancers, skin cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australia – accounting for 80% of new cancers diagnosed.
- Skin Cancer can be almost entirely prevented with good sun protection.
- Skin cancer is the most common type of cancer.
We want all our staff to be aware of the dangers that UV causes and learn to protect themselves and their clients correctly.
We ask all staff to take this short UV quiz and towards the end of the quiz download the Sunsmart app so you are all aware of the daily UV ratings and proper methods you should use and follow to protect yourself and your client/s, even on cold and rainy days it UV index can be extremely high.
Once this quiz is submitted, you will receive an email with our new UV Protection Policy (also located in our Policies area from the Staff Quick Links) as well as some helpful brochures and links you can use for further education.
