La Crosse County Health Department asks that groups follow Coulee COVID-19 Collaborative strategies to decrease the spread of COVID-19 in our community.
Event organizers are expected to work with the Health Department to plan for and put in place mitigation strategies to protect their staff, volunteers, and attendees. As the planning process moves forward event organizers will be expected to regularly review the strategies and local data for changing needs including the potential to postpone or cancel.
Though the Health Department will not be approving events for COVID-19 purposes, we will be working with event coordinators on prevention plans. Please consider the following risks regarding the steps that will be taken regarding COVID-19 prevention in the form below. These plans will be required to be filled out at the beginning of the planning process.
The risk of COVID-19 spreading at events and gatherings increases as follows:
- Lower Risk: Virtual-only activities, events, and gatherings.
- More Risk: Smaller outdoor gathering in which individuals from different households remain spaced at least 6 feet apart, wear cloth face coverings, do not share objects, and come from the same local area (e.g., a community, town, city, or county)
- Higher Risk: Medium-sized in-person gatherings that are organized/laid out to allow individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart, some wear cloth face coverings and some come from outside the local area (e.g., a community, town, city, or county).
- Highest risk: Large in-person gatherings where it is difficult for individuals to remain spaced at least 6 feet apart, individuals do not wear cloth face coverings and many travel from outside the local area.
