The vision The SMS is a mission school, aimed specifically at training people in the type of ministry Steiger does, with opportunities for future involvement in Steiger. Therefore in general we receive a mature group of students to be “missionaries-in-training”, of various ages, but mostly in their 20’s and 30’s. It is an exciting time and stimulating environment as people come from around the globe, with a variety of experience and gifts, to learn together and seek God. Your role is to serve this community and vision. You are very important for the school to happen, and your work is a valued and serious responsibility. Being a volunteer at the Steiger Mission School is a privilege. It is a great opportunity to serve, learn and experience new things with God. Money and time has been given by people all over the world for this to take place and it is a unique time for those coming to study. Therefore we commit ourselves to a special discipline when serving at the school. We want to be the best stewards possible of these amazing opportunities. The school period is not normal life. It is more intense, more stressful and very cool! You will be expected to do your job to the best of your ability; to work hard until the job is done, often for long hours; and to do this with an attitude of love and servant hood. Although community life is fun, this is not a “summer camp”, so we require respectful and mature attitudes from volunteers. It is also important to understand that the teaching and ministering to students is to be done by the invited lecturers and the leadership team. Although opportunities to encourage and pray for one another happen all the time during the school, you are not there as a leader and it is not your job to counsel or instruct students.
