  • 2017 SCHOLARSHIP GENERAL INFORMATION

    The Women of AT&T National Scholarship Program was established to ensure professional and personal development for continuous growth, advancement, and success through education, community involvement and mentoring.

    The scholarship program provides scholarships annually to deserving students attending or soon to be attending an establishment of higher learning.  Applicants sponsored by a Women of AT&T member are eligible for scholarships.

    The Women of AT&T National Scholarship Program Committee will annually determine the number and amount of scholarship given as funding warrants.  This year, the Women of AT&T is pleased to announce an increase in the number of scholarships.  Twenty-five $1000 scholarships will be awarded to:

    • Graduating high school seniors. 
    • Students already enrolled in or attending an establishment of higher education. 
    ELIGIBILITY

    Applicants for the Women of AT&T National Scholarship Program must be planning to attend or currently attending an accredited post-secondary institution or technical vocational/trade school.  The applicant must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative GPA (4.00 scale).  All applicants must be sponsored by an active WOA member.  Both female and male students are eligible.

    NOTE: AT&T employees are not eligible to receive a National Women of AT&T Scholarship.  Family and friends are eligible.

    AWARD CRITERIA

    Recipients of the scholarships are chosen through a process that evaluates the following areas:

    • Essay Quality (45 Points)
    • Grade Point Average  (35 Points)
    • Community/School Involvement  (20 Points)

  • APPLICATION PROCESS

    The scholarship application package includes:

    1. Submission of online Scholarship Application.  The online scholarship is available by clicking Next at the bottom of the page.
    2. Official Transcript - Sent electronically from the school to Cheryl Bliss at cb3295@att.com or mailed from the school to the address below:

    All application materials must be post marked between February 1, 2017 - April 7, 2017 (by midnight Eastern Standard Time.)

    NOTIFICATION OF WINNERS

    Scholarship recipients will be notified via email, or phone if email not available, by the end of May, 2017.  Scholarship proceeds will be sent directly to the applicant's school.  Women of AT&T Scholarship Committee decisions are final.  Essays and other application documentation will not be returned.

  • HELPFUL REMINDERS

    1. Please ensure that you complete the entire application.

    2. Document your involvement in School and Community activities over the past year (1/1/2016 thru 12/31/2016). Include awards received and work experience during the same time period. Please complete the "School" Tab, the "Community" Tab, and the "Work" Tab (if applicable) within the form.  Save the form using your name as the filename.  Then upload your form.

    3. Request transcripts from your school early to ensure they arrive by the deadline.  Transcripts must be post marked between February 1, 2017 - April 7, 2017 (by midnight Eastern Standard Time). Remember, only Official Transcripts are accepted.

    4. The school should send the most current transcript available.  The information populated in the application should align with the transcript.

    5. Please ensure essay meets the 250 word minimum / 500 word maximum guideline for high school students and the 500 word minimum / 800 word maximum for college students.

    6. A confirmation email will be sent following your scholarship submission along with a summary of the data submitted.

    7. Carefully review the application for accuracy before it is submitted.

    8. All application materials must be received between February 1, 2017 - April 7, 2017 (by midnight Eastern Standard Time).

    9. The online application will remain active as long as your browser is open.  If you close your browser prior to submitting the application, your information will be lost.

  • FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    1. If a student has been awarded a scholarship in a previous year, are they eligible to apply again?
      Yes.  If a new application is submitted and the student is selected again, it is possible for a person to receive more than one scholarship over the years from Women of AT&T.

    2. How are scholarship recipients selected?
      The National Scholarship Committee selects the scholarship winners based on the criteria above and all decisions of the committee are final.

    3. How are scholarship recipients notified?
      The National Scholarship Committee will notify all scholarship recipients via email or phone, if email is not available, in May, 2017.  The names will also be posted on the scholarship page of the Women of AT&T National website.

    4. Can an active employee of AT&T receive a scholarship?
      No, active employees are not eligible.

    5. If I would like to make changes to the application I submitted, can I resubmit my application?
      We recommend that you carefully review the application for accuracy before it is submitted.  If you have questions or revisions to the submitted application, please contact Brenda Neal via email at bn2945@att.com.
