Founded in 2003, the Ivy & Roses Community Fund, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) charity that supports education, the arts and other community building activities in metropolitan Atlanta. Our mission is to provide resources for charitable, civic and direct service programs. These include scholarships, educational assistance and partnerships with other agencies to magnify community impact.
Purpose: To identify high school seniors and continuing college students who possess a strong desire for academic excellence, leadership positions in student organizations, and plan on attending an HBCU in Atlanta, Georgia in the Fall 2017 semester as a full-time student.
Reward: One or more individuals selected from the pool of qualified applicants will be awarded scholarships for financial assistance during the 2017-18 academic year up to $5,000.00.
Qualifications: Interested candidates must meet the following criteria to qualify for this award:
- Graduating high school senior or currently enrolled college student graduating in Fall 2017 or later with a GPA of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale;
- Have applied and been admitted to Historically Black College or University (HBCU) ;
- Major/intended major in the Arts;
- Complete a narrative of no more than 250 words, discussing one of the following:
Should the Arts be included in the STEM curriculum of secondary education (i.e., STEAM)?
Why or why not?
- Candidate or a representative of the candidate (preferably a family member local to Atlanta) must be available to receive the award in person at IRCF's Signature Event to be held on Friday, November 10, 2017 in Atlanta.
