  • Whereas Clauses: The facts and information that provide the reason(s) for your resolution.

    Members of the State Platform & Resolutions Committee and policy makers will use this material to understand both why it’s important and how your idea will work.

    Limit five (5) “Whereas” statements please.

  • Resolved Clauses: Steps or actions that should be taken to implement the resolution or achieve the desired end result. You only need one (1) “Be it resolved” clause with a maximum of two (2).

  • Platform Plank Statement: Should this resolution become an item in the current DPNM platform? What would you like it to say?

  • 2018 DPNM Resolution Guidelines

     The SPARC is committed to a fair and consistent process that controls how resolutions are accepted for presentation to the State Central Committee for approval.

     Upon receipt of a proposed resolution, the committee will discuss it to detmine:

    1. whether it aligns with the core values of the Democratic party;
    2. whether it addresses the needs of the New Mexican people;
    3. whether the writing style is clear and specific;
    4. whether it includes sources for each “WHEREAS” statement.

    •  Citing sources improves the quality and our understanding of your resolution.
  • Resolutions are stronger when the desired result is specific, focused, and/or achievable.  For example: "retrain police in de-escalation techniques" vs. "reform the police”

    If the proposed resolution DOES NOT meet these guidelines, it is returned to the author with feedback.

    After receiving feedback, the proposed resolution may be revised and resubmitted to the SPARC.

    If the proposed resolution DOES meet these guidelines, it is then submitted to the SPARC to be voted upon.

    Resolutions with similar spirit and intent will be bundled, and the number of similar submissions will be noted.

    Each resolution must be submitted on a separate form, as resolutions must be voted upon individually.
