WCC Scholarship Application 2020
The Wiggins Community Church offers two scholarships each year. Each award is sent directly to the institution of higher education in two equal installments (corresponding to different semesters). The first, a $500.00 scholarship (to be called WCC Senior Scholarship) is awarded by the Christian Education committee of Wiggins Community Church and is given to A CURRENT HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR WHO ATTENDS WIGGINS COMMUNITY CHURCH. The second, a $500.00 scholarship (to be called the WCC Continuing Education Scholarship)is given by Wiggins Community Church, and ANYONE ATTENDING THE WIGGINS COMMUNITY CHURCH MAY APPLY FOR THIS SCHOLARSHIP. Applicants for this scholarship must be active participants in WCC and planning to attend, or already attending, a properly accredited institution of higher education. This may include technical schools, 2-year colleges, business colleges, graduate schools, etc. No relative of an applicant may serve on the selection committee. Applicants must use the scholarship during the indicated school year. Interested persons must submit attached application along with essay response, and letters of recommendation. Only completed applications will be considered by the scholarship committee. Each applicant will be interviewed before the Scholarship Committee. Appointments will be made with each applicant. Decisions to award scholarships will be made by the Christian Education Scholarship Committee after a thorough review of all eligible applications and information gathered at the oral interview. In the event that none of the applications received meet the aforementioned criteria, or are deemed deserving of the scholarship(s) (to be determined by a committee vote) then scholarship(s) will not be awarded and money will be carried forward. All decisions made by the Christian Education Scholarship Committee in conjunction with these scholarships are final and not open for review. All applications are due by April 8, 2019, and to be received at the church office. PLEASE REMEMBER THE DEADLINE IS FINAL. Scholarships awarded will be announced May 5, 2019 during service. Applicants will be notified in writing as soon as possible after this announcement is made. The proceeds of the scholarship will be paid directly to the school where the recipient enrolls. If an applicant who is awarded a scholarship fails to use it during that year, the award will remain with the committee.
