We would like you to tell us about you work history. There are a lot of things we would like to know about each position... Of course we need to know the employer, location, dates of employment, your titles, and salary history. We would also be interested in knowing what your expectations were for each job, your responsibilities/accountabilities, what you found upon entering the job, what major challenges you faced and how they were handled. What were your most significant accomplishments as well as mistakes, and what were the most enjoyable and least enjoyable aspects of each job? What was each supervisor like and what would you guess each really felt were your strengths and weak points? Finally, we would like to know the circumstances under which you left each position. Please go back and start with your last full time job and go backward chronologically.
A final step in the hiring process is for candidates to arrange personal reference calls with former supervisors and others we may choose. There are three reasons for this
- Your Development: Candid insights of managers and other can be used to help you move smoothly into your next job and can help you create a powerful Individual Development Plan
- Verification: Discussions with former managers and other's will add credibility to the information you have provided throughout the hiring process
- Ease: It’s difficult for us to get former supervisors and other to talk with us, but high performers can arrange for those personal discussions.
