  • Pulse Young Professionals 2017 Committee Application

Looking for an opportunity to increase your involvement with Pulse Young Professionals? Consider joining a committee! Not only is it a great resume builder, the experience will broaden your leadership skills and deepen your connection to the community. Committees traditionally meet monthly, but this varies by need and the event schedule. Committee descriptions can be found below.
  • Volunteers: The Volunteers Committee was created to provide opportunities for Upstate YPs to give back to the community through coordinated volunteering efforts. The Volunteers Committee will schedule several service projects annually where Pulse members can give their time to a local non-profit. This committee is also responsible for communicating with the membership about different ways to get involved within their community on an individual basis.

  • Arts & Culture: The Pulse Arts & Culture Committee hosts events that specifically promote the arts and cultural appreciation in the Greenville community. In addition to these events, this committee partners with the other core Pulse programs (Volunteers, Leadership, Pacesetters, Social and Pulse Intern Experience) to ensure all Pulse members are exposed to the Upstate's thriving arts and culture scene.

  • Leadership: The Pulse Leadership Committee plans and executes regularly scheduled Pulse Luncheons. The Leadership Luncheons are one of Pulse Young Professionals' most popular programs, featuring an engaging lunch-time event that expands perspectives and encourages professional development. This committee meets once a month to discuss speakers and topics to be covered at each of the events.

  • Marketing: The Marketing Committee works closely and collaboratively with all other Pulse programs and handles all aspects of membership. This committee is responsible for social media interaction and engaging members in upcoming events and activities. It organizes several Introduction to Pulse events that help new and prospective members gain valuable information on all that Pulse offers. There are multiple opportunities in public relations, blog entries, videography, photography, social media, e-newsletters and event management where any member of this committee can get involved.

  • Pacesetters: The Pulse Pacesetters Committee promotes, develops and organizes the Pacesetters Program, which is a 10-month mentoring program designed for leadership development in young professionals. Committee members assist with the selection of mentors as well as mentees and are responsible for planning and facilitating the Opening and Closing sessions as well as Pacesetters Workshops. Committee members must have previously completed the Pacesetters program.

  • Social: The Social Committee plans and executes all of the Pulse socials. Included in the socials is the Upstate's largest young professional event of the year - the Ballpark Bash - which draws between 300-400 young professionals each year. This committee plans several social events annually, overseeing all aspects of each event including locations, food and beverage offerings, sponsors, entertainment and more.

  • Intern Experience: The Pulse Intern Experience Committee develops, organizes and implements a summer program strategically geared towards attracting and retaining young talent in the Upstate area upon completion of their college degrees. The summer program targets college interns working in the Greenville area for the summer. Events include, but are not limited to, a walking tour of Greenville with the Mayor and/or a Council member, social networking opportunities with local businessmen and women, an event that showcases a business, industry or operation unique to the Upstate, and leadership development events.

  • Diversity & Inclusion: The Diversity and Inclusion Committee focuses on fostering leadership development through a diverse and inclusive lens. The committee is dedicated to elevating the function of diversity and inclusion to promote a culture of awareness, equality, and inclusion. Diversity enhances learning and leadership development by acknowledging the inherent worth of all people. This committee promotes Greenville Chamber Diversity and Inclusion events, hosts its own events and partners with Volunteers, Leadership, Pacesetters, Social and Pulse Intern Experience Committees to ensure education, awareness and inclusivity across all Pulse programs. The committee also fosters and creates collaboration among the various YP groups in the Upstate and Pulse programs.
