Summit University announces openings for the position of Resident Assistant for the 2016/17 academic year. Students with strong academic, personal, spiritual and leadership gifts, and a teachable spirit are urged to apply. Application forms are available in the Office for Student Development. Applications are due March 18th, 2016.
Responsibilities: RAs are student leaders who assist in the administration and operation of the University residence halls. Their primary responsibility is to facilitate the academic, personal and spiritual growth of students and to serve the needs of those living in residence. This includes academic support, response to emergency needs, personal advising, reporting needs for hall maintenance, social and student development programming, support of community expectations, violations, weekly meetings with the RD, serving in dorm duty and generally investing approximately 15 - 20 hours of time weekly.
Requirements: Attendance at Leadership Week is required. RAs are required to attend group RA/RD meetings with the Deans, as well as dorm RA/RD meetings. You are expected to be available through May 6th until 5:00 pm for dorm check out. Being available in the dorm is a high priority, so RAs should not plan to be gone more than one weekend a month during the school year.
Please contact any of the RDs, Mrs. Faye Moore, Mr. Ted Boykin, or Summer Kinder if you have any questions.
