Student Development Contract for Residence Hall Life Form Preview
  • Fall 2017/Spring 2018
  • This agreement is made between Clarks Summit University and {name}, a Resident Assistant (RA) for the Office for Student Development (OSD) in {clickTo7} from August 18, 2017 to May 12, 2018.

{name} agrees to take up the duties of the role of Resident Assistant under the supervision of the Residence Hall Director and Associate Deans.

In appreciation for character and leadership of the RA, Clarks Summit University agrees to provide a scholarship of $1400 for a first year position or $1600 for a second year position. Half of this sum will be dispersed to his/her student account each semester.

As a Resident Assistant, you are expected to fill a significant ministry role on our campus. You will assist in the administration and operation of the University Residence Halls. A primary responsibility will be to facilitate the academic, personal, and spiritual growth of students and to serve the needs of those living in your dorm. This will include academic support, response to emergency needs, personal advising, reporting maintenance needs, programming social and spiritual activities, and supporting the community standards (i.e. cleaning, hours, dress code, etc.). The complete job description and duties of the Resident Assistant are found in the RA Manual and are explained more fully in various training sessions required for all residence hall staff. Some of the special duties related to this position include the following:

    1. Arrival on campus by Friday August 18th, 2017 to make final arrangements for the opening of the dorms and to participate in Leadership Week sessions. RDs may specify an earlier time if necessary

    2. Completion of check-out responsibilities on Thursday, December 21st, 2017 until 5pm.

    3. Completion of check-out responsibilities on Saturday, May 12th, 2018 until 5pm.

    4. Arrival on campus on Friday January 6th, 2018.

    5. All plans for regularly scheduled ministries that would take an RA away from the dorm overnight or all day/weekend must be cleared ahead of time with the Deans and the RD.

    6. Availability in the dorms is a high priority, so the RA should not plan to be gone more than one weekend a month during the school year.

    7. Any other remunerative employment during the school year will be limited to 20 hours per week. Work plans should be cleared ahead of time with your RD.

    8. Each RA is expected to attend all staff meeting sessions and complete homework as assigned.

    9. Each RA is expected to actively participate in dorm life and campus activities.

Another primary responsibility as a student leader hired by the OSD is to have a complete working knowledge of and to consistently uphold the University’s Community Commitment. These standards include policies based on convictions from Scripture, principles of deference and convenience, and goals for individual edification. It is our desire that each Resident Assistant firmly commit to personally follow and diligently enforce these standards with the student body.
