Shavuot-Iftar
  • Shavuot-Iftar

This year, Shavuot, the Jewish holiday celebrating the giving of the Torah at Mt. Sinai, coincides with the Muslim holy month of Ramadan during which Muslims fast during the day for 30 days. On Tuesday night, May 30th, Imam Mowlid Ali will introduce our Tikkun Leil Shavuot (night of learning) by teaching about Muslim Understandings of Revelation. When the fast ends at the end of his session, (and the Shavuot holiday begins), Beth El will host a dairy Iftar, a break fast meal, for Imam Mowlid and friends from Jamaat-Ibad-Ar-Rahaman in Durham, NC. After a wonderful holiday meal, our learning will continue with classes by Rabbi Emeritus, Steve Sager, Rabbi of Judea Reform Congregation, Larry Bach, and, late in the evening, Rabbi Daniel Greyber.
