  • The UNK Office of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions, along with the Office of First Year Program, are looking for outgoing, organized, passionate full-time students who love to tell others about UNK and help new students with their transition to college life! Please fill out the application below if you are interested in one or more of these positions.

    **Please note, New Student Enrollment Leaders cannot be the Blue and Gold Welcome Week Coordinator. Student Diplomats must have at least 2 UNK semesters of experience.

    • UNK Student Diplomat  
    • As a UNK Student Diplomat you will be the face of the University. You are one of the first and last faces that potential students will see when they are at UNK. As a UNK Student Diplomat you will give informative, positive, and fun campus tours to prospective UNK students and their families and to large groups of visitors. You will also help prepare admissions materials for visitors, answer and transfer incoming phone calls as well as assist with UNK recruitment events and other duties as assigned. You will be required to work with others and take on the position of a leader and a follower. UNK Student Diplomats will also attend regularly scheduled group meetings and trainings. This position requires a smile, Loper pride, a friendly face and the ability to think on your feet. **You must have at least two semesters of UNK experience to be a UNK Student Diplomat.

    • New Student Enrollment Team Leader  
    • As a New Student Orientation Team Leader, you will be the face of the University. You are integral in the successful transition to UNK, for not only students but also their families. This position requires a smile, Loper pride and the ability to think on your feet. Orientation Team Leaders will welcome students and their families to UNK by guiding them through the process of the New Student Enrollment day. Daily NSE tasks include:

      • Providing leadership with NSE set-up, check-in, and tear-down each day.
      • Teaching students how to register for their classes using MyBlue.
      • Facilitating icebreakers and team building activities
      • Creating and giving presentations to parents and students of their UNK experience which includes building and performing a daily skit, song, etc.
      • Initiating and maintaining positive and professional communications to prospective students and their families through social media, email, and phone calls
      • Giving campus tours and preparing Admissions materials
      • You will be required to work with others and take on the positions of a leader and a follower.
      • You will be required to be a creative force by thinking on your feet and generating various activities for all UNK visitors.

      Other NSE day duties include:

      • Attending regularly scheduled team meetings.
      • Working scheduled office hours in the Office of Undergraduate Recruitment and Admissions on non-NSE days
      • Serving as Fall Orientation Leaders during the Blue and Gold Welcome Week Activities.
      • Participating in student staff training retreats.
      • Performing other duties as assigned.
    • Blue and Gold Welcome Week Student Coordinator  
    • The Blue Gold Welcome Week Coordinator plays a vital role in the success of all new students as they transition to college life at UNK during Blue & Gold Welcome Week. The BGWW coordinator must be a dedicated UNK student, a proud Loper and someone who believes that they can be the reason why a student stays at UNK. As the BGWW coordinatior you must:

      • Be detailed oriented and enjoy event planning - This position plans, manages, and executes all BGWW activities.
      • Be able to lead a large group - You are in charge of all Loper Leaders (125-150 current student guides)
      • Be able to take direction - You will work as an assistant to the Assistant Director of First Year Program.
      • Work well with those who are different from you.
      • Be confident in conversation. You will have to communicate with student, families, businesses, faculty, staff, and other important campus and community people.
      • Show Loper pride.
    • Loper Squad  
    • The “Loper Squad” will be a group of 5 to 10 dedicated student leaders that show not only academic promise but also outstanding leadership capabilities.

      Applicants must be sophomore to senior standing by the start of the 2017-2018 academic school year. Applicants who have been Loper Leaders in the past will receive preference.

      Responsibilities include:

      Working with the Assistant Director and Blue Gold Welcome Coordinator to manage, set up, tear down, and assist with the first week and a half’s worth of Blue Gold Events. This is including but not limited to Destination Downtown, Family orientation, Campus Class Roam, and others.
