Crisis Response in Saint Paul - What is, What Could be
  • Note - because we are reaching our capacity for this event, we are saving the remainder of the seats for BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and people of color) and those are directly affected by crisis response system (survivors of violence, people with // family members of people with mental illness, etc).

    ------

This two-part series will explore alternatives to calling 911 in Saint Paul, with a focus on mental health, homelessness, substance use and poverty.

On Wednesday September 23, the focus will be a teach-in about crisis response in Saint Paul MN, and in Eugene OR where an alternative system (CAHOOTS) exists. September 30 will be a de-escalation training to help attendees address common crises themselves. You can attend one or both events. Both are on Zoom, 7-8:30 PM. CC available.

  • Thank you so much for your interest!

We are reserving the remaining seats for residents of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis, Saint Paul and surrounding areas) who are BIPOC or are otherwise directly affected by the current crisis response system.

There are many ways you can carry this work forward in your own community. We are inspired by Oakland Power Projects Know Your Options Workshops, which is also featured in a new book full of inspiration and resources: Beyond Survival. You can request a de-escalation training from CAHOOTS here. Consider contributing to dontcallthepolice.com, a crowdsourced guide of police alternatives across North America.
