This form should be used by parents wishing to enroll thier child in a high school academy or Summit Virtual Academy.

High School Academies:

High school academy applications should only be completed by the parent/legal guardian of a rising 9th grade student who desires to transfer to East Rowan High, Jesse Carson High, North Rowan High, Salisbury High, South Rowan High or West Rowan High under academy provisions.

Summit Virtual Academy:

Students wishing to attend Summit Virtual Academy must complete the following application, even if the student was previously enrolled in Summit for the 2020-2021 school year. Summit Virtual only enrolls students up to the 8th grade.

Deadlines:

All academy applications should be returned during the Window of Opportunity; February 15th – March 15th, along with the required documentation. Once the Window of Opportunity has closed, there will be no further opportunity to apply for academy entrance for the 2021-2022 school year.

High School Academies
Academy Entrance (Entrada a la academia):

Rising 9th grade students who are unable to obtain academies or concentrations in his/her regularly assigned school, may apply to another school within RSSS in order to enroll in a program of study or academy not offered. Transfers into high school academies for rising 9th graders will be granted on a space available basis, with student in the academy host school given first opportunity for enrollment in the academy.

Los estudiantes que entraran a noveno grado que no puedan obtener academias o concentraciones en su escuela asignada porque no se ofrece ahí, pueden solicitar a otra escuela dentro del distrito RSSS. Academy Termination (Terminación de la academia):

If a student fails to enroll and continue in a requested academy or concentration, the principal will recommend that the transfer be revoked. A 365-day wait period for athletics would apply upon the return to the “home school” (school serving domicile at time of transfer termination).

Si un estudiante no se matricula y continua en la academia o concentración solicitada, el director recomendara que se revoque el traslado. Athletic Wait Period (Periodo de Espera atlético):

Rising 9th grade students who are accepted into any RSSS academies or concentrations will NOT be subject to the 365-day athletic wait period that applies to traditional student transfers; HOWEVER, students who enroll in their “home school” after attending one of the above academies under the provisions listed above WILL be subject to a 365-day athletic wait period.
