  • Microblading/ Ombre Brow Healing schedule

If you've never had microblading or ombre brows before, there are a lot of unknowns. One of the most common questions we're asked is what to expect during the healing process. While every person is different and some heal more quickly or slowly than others, below depicts what many may experience during healing.

Temporary side effects from microblading/ ombre brows include but are not limited to redness, swelling, puffiness, bruising, dry patches, and tenderness.

You should expect to lose approximately 1/3 to 1/2 of the initial color during the healing process. We have selected the optimal pigments for you with this in mind. In approximately seven days it may appear too light. After about 10 days, the color will show more with the final result appearing softer when completely healed.

The eyebrows are approximately 20-25% bolder and darker in width than they will be when healed. Expect light to moderate swelling and redness. The skin's redness causes the color of the pigment to appear darker. There is some swelling, although difficult to actually see due to the thickness of the skin in 1the eyebrow area. This will subside. Peeling, which begins in a few days, will cause the excess pigment surrounding the eyebrow to flake away and a more narrow appearance will result. New skin will heal over the pigmented area and result in a softer appearance of your eyebrows. Don't be concerned that your eyebrows initially appear darker and heavier in size than you desire. This is all part of the process.

Eyebrows start to itch and will appear a bit thicker in texture. Peeling begins.

The skin begins to flake, peeling from the outside edges first.

Color finishes flaking off and appears softer and grayer for a few days until the color settles.

The color has lightened from its initial overly dark appearance. For the next few days, the color may now 6 be lighter than what the final color will be.

The final color begins to stabilize and show through. The color will continue to soften as the healing 10 process completes.

I UNDERSTAND AND ACCEPT THAT FAILURE TO FOLLOW THE POST-PROCEDURE INSTRUCTIONS ABOVE MAY RESULT IN A LOSS OR DISCOLORATION OF PIGMENT RESULTING IN A NEED FOR MORE FREQUENT TOUCH-UPS.

  • Microblading/ Ombre Brow Post Procedure Care

Microblading/ Ombre Brow procedures are affected by the "canvas" (your skin) that they are performed on. Lifestyle, medications, diet, smoking, metabolism, facial surgery and other procedures, and age of skin all contribute to fading. The initial application is always applied conservatively because every person's skin is different and the final color can only be precisely determined and adjusted during a follow-up appointment after the initial application has fully healed. Because of this, the Microblading/ Combination brow process is not complete after the initial procedure and requires a touchup appointment 6-8 weeks after the initial appointment, while the ombre brow process may or may not require the touchup.

For Ombre Brows, every client is different, so we will not be able to determine if a touchup appointment is necessary until you've healed for 2 weeks. Please send your artist a selfie of your brows once you've reached that 2-week mark to: info@colorlabnyc.com

Though rare, infection is possible. If you see signs of infection such as persistent increased redness or swelling, fever, drainage, or oozing, contact your doctor immediately.

IMMEDIATELY AFTER YOUR APPOINTMENT (same day):

Use a little bit of the cleanser we've provided every hour until bedtime by applying one pump of the foam directly to the brows in a dabbing motion with a damp cotton round or paper towel then remove the foam with a damp paper towel or cotton round.

Right before bedtime, apply a pea-sized amount of the oil we've given you.

    STARTING TOMORROW until day 14:

Morning- cleanse your brows with the foam and rinse with just a damp paper towel or cotton round then apply rice grain size amount of topical

Apply the topical another 3-4 times throughout the day

Bedtime- cleanse your brows with the foam and rinse with just a damp paper towel or cotton round then apply rice grain size amount of topical

Do NOT allow your brows to become dry and itchy, as it will lead to premature flaking of the skin. Keep the oil with you at all times. If you get dry or itchy, apply a tiny bit of the oil to your brows.

    • Avoid sweating or any form of vigorous exercise for 14 days.
    • For at least 14 days post-procedure or until healing is complete (whichever is longer): Keep your hands clean and avoid touching the affected areas. Additionally:
      • Wash your face at your bathroom sink, avoiding your brows.
      • Do NOT splash water on your face. Use a clean, wet face cloth to remove facial
      • Do NOT scrub or pick treated areas.
      • Do NOT use peroxide or Neosporin on treated areas. Only use what we've provided.
      • Do NOT expose the area to direct sun or to tanning beds.
      • Avoid exposing the area to excessive moisture or humidity, such as facials, swimming, whirlpools (hot tubs), saunas, steam rooms, direct streams of water, splashing water in your face, and steamy showers.
      • NO MAKEUP on the brows until healed (at least 10-14 days). You can apply your makeup around your brows but be careful not to get any into your brows.

Avoid Retin-A, moisturizers, glycolic acids, exfoliants, and anti-aging products at all times (not just during healing) on all areas treated to the semi-permanent makeup procedure. These can cause pigments to fade and lighten prematurely.

Avoid tanning beds, sun, chlorine spas, and pools, soap, and chemicals (including skin cleansers, makeup removers, alpha-hydroxy creams, and tooth whitening toothpaste) near the treated area until healed.

Pigments will slowly fade over time according to one's metabolism, skin type, sun exposure, medication, surgery, medications, diet, and smoking. Schedule touchup visits for Ombre Brows as needed to keep it looking fresh. Microblading touchups will be limited to once yearly after your initial touchup so as to avoid trauma to the skin.

Periodic touch-ups will ensure longer-lasting results. Fees do apply. Visit the website for a more detailed list.

Do Not resume any method of eyebrow hair removal or tinting for at least two weeks. NO WAXING EVER because wax exfoliates the skin and can break down the pigment in your brows.

YOU WILL LIKELY NEED A TOUCHUP AND WILL RETURN 6-8 WEEKS AFTER YOUR
