Job Description
The Office of PittServes is looking for support in its civic and community advising programs for the 2022-2023 school year. Each of the two fellows will receive a $1,000 stipend per semester. The responsibilities for the position are listed below:
Social Media
- Assist with the oversight of the Civic Engagement Instagram
- Create social media campaigns (ex. posts Women’s History Month that celebrate women engaged in civic engagement on campus)
- Share the Instagram page through word-of-mouth and at in-person marketing events – see below
Marketing Event Planning and Implementation
- Schedule times with professors to speak about Civic Advising programs during class time
- Attend PittServes events (Signature Days of Service, Volunteer Fair, Civic Engagement Fair, etc.) to represent Civic Advising
- Reach out to student organizations to schedule times to speak about Civic Advising during their meetings
- Create one Civic Advising event per semester (ex. Coffee with Civic Advisors)
- Submit Student Affairs marketing requests for flyers one month prior to scheduled event dates with the support of the Civic and Community Advising Program Manager
Website Maintenance
- Approve civic engagement events to be posted to the Civic Action calendar that fit within the Civic Pathways (community engaged learning & research; direct service; policy and governance; community organizing & activism; philanthropy; social entrepreneurship & corporate responsibility)
- Complete routine website sweeps to make sure links are working and the information is accurate
Data Collection
- Collect data from the Civic Pathways survey and volunteer portal to better inform programmatic efforts in Civic Advising
- Create surveys for participants to complete after attending events
- Creating a transition manual for future Civic Engagement Fellows
- Maintaining up-to-date contact listservs for departments, faculty, staff, student organizations, and community partners
Developing Advising Resources
- Creating informational guides for students, faculty, and staff to utilize to further engage them in the civic pathways
- Support the Civic and Community Advising Program Manager in connecting to career professionals in civic engagement fields for Careers in Civic Action series
Other Duties May Include
- Attending and taking notes during Civic and Community Advising Committee meetings
- Marketing efforts for the overall Office of PittServes or Division of Student Affairs via social media
- Reporting SGB initiatives and potential collaboration projects to the Civic and Community Advising Program Manager
- Supporting other PittServes arms in work that relates to Civic and Community Advising (Education, Sustainability, PittVotes, community development, etc.)
