Basic Rules
1. The Cricket Tournament is organized by the MES Alumni Association.
2. Following are the basic tournament guidelines for those interested in getting their team registered.
3. The tournament will be comprising of 8 teams.
4. The tournament will be played at Old Ideal School Ground, Salwa Road.
5. MESF 2024 Cricket tournament will be played from 20th May 2024 onwards.
6. The teams should register a minimum of 11 & maximum of 15 players with Just 11 playing on the field.
7. The total duration of each match in this tournament shall be comprised of 8 overs per innings.
8. Only registered players can participate in the tournament. No changes in the player list is allowed after the full team registration.
9. This player pool should only include Alumni members. For this tournament Alumni members are defined as ex-students who have passed out from the school or have enrolled at MES Indian school in their academic journey.
10. The entry fee for the team to participate is QR 1000 which is to be paid after the registration. Tournament supervisor will contact you for the same after verification of the registered team. Valid QID copies of all the players is mandatory for verification. Team registration is only considered complete with the payment of entry fee.
11. The entry fee is non-refundable after the declaration is signed by the Captain or Team Manager.
12. Cricket ball will be provided by the organizers. The match will be played with MRI ball. One new ball will be given for one inning.
13. Use of abusive/offensive words and vulgar actions is strictly prohibited, both on and off the field. Umpire decision will be the final decision. No fights or arguments will be tolerated.
14. The tournament organizers reserve the right to qualify or disqualify teams during registration process. In case the number of teams registered exceeds the team limit, a fair qualification process will be applied and communicated. If a team is disqualified for any reason before the start of tournament the participation fees will be reimbursed.
15. Registration will be open till 30th April 2024. No applications after the deadline will be entertained.
16. All teams need to have their own kit (Keeping Gloves, Bats, Batting gloves Abdomen guard etc.)
17. In terms of cash prizes, the winner receives QAR 3,000, the first runner-up gets QAR 2,000, and the second runner-up is awarded QAR 1,000.
General Rules & Regulations of the game
Below are the detailed rules and regulations which will also be provided to the captains after the final selection of all the teams at the time of Captains and Vice Captains meeting with the organizers.
GENERAL RULES:
18. All the ICC rules will be followed throughout league except LBW, Free-hit & Fake Fielding.
19. All the matches will start and played as per the schedule.
20. MESF 2024 Cricket tournament will be played from 20th May 2024 onwards.
21. A maximum of 15 players who have studied in MES Indian school can be registered for the tournament.
22. The registration will include the names, QID, email, mobile number and year of passing out or the year they have studied in MES.
23. Only registered players can participate in the tournament. No change in player is allowed after full team is registration.
24. The Entry fees for the team to participate is QR.1000 which is to be paid at the time of registration. Entry fees is non-refundable after the declaration signed by captain or team manager.
25. There will not be any player addition or removal during the whole league. In case of genuine cases like termination/leaving the country, committee will be keen to look into it and approval for replacement subjected to committee decision on relevant documents. Qatar ID cancellation is must in this scenario.
26. Medical Replacement is not allowed since the tournament period is quite short.
27. Sri Lankan cricket bats are not allowed in the league. Araldite/or any addition in cricket bats are banned.
28. Teams must be in cricket whites or have uniform tops. Full length trousers are mandatory.
29. All Individual performance awards will be declared based on cricclub statistics.
PRE-MATCH RULES:
30. Each team should report 30 mins before the toss.
31. Minimum 8 players must be in the ground from both teams before a match is started. Failure of which after the allotted time will lead to penalty over deduction.
32. An over will be cut for every 5 mins delay for the team that is delayed.
POWER PLAY RULES:
33. First Over is Mandatory power play.
34. During power play overs of each innings, only THREE fielders are permitted to be outside the circle.
35. During Non-Power play overs, THREE fielders are mandatory inside the circle.
BALL USED FOR THE GAME:
36. Titan Yellow/Guru Yellow hard tennis balls will be used.(Upon Availability).
37. Every match will start with new ball.
38. The ball will only be replaced if it is damaged or lost. A new ball will be taken if it is happening in the first over else an old ball will be used.
39. During the play, if the ball is damaged, the umpire will replace the ball and the particular ball will be called Dead ball. If any particular delivery went out of the ground like a boundary or six, then it will be called as legal delivery even if the ball is damaged.
DISCIPLINE:
40. We strongly condemn Verbal and Physical assault in between matches. Here is the list of disciplinary actions for players who fall under this category.
41. If a player verbally assaults opponents and if the committee finds out that the issue is genuine, that player will get a One Match Ban. If the same player repeats this mistake, he will be permanently banned from the tournament and team cannot replace him with another player.
42. If a team is accused twice for any kind of assault, then the captain will get a one match ban on the second time.
43. For Physical assault, that player will be permanently banned from the tournament with immediate effect. Team cannot replace that player with another.
BOWLING & BATTING:
44. A bowler is allowed to bowl maximum of 2 overs and other bowlers 1 over each.
45. There is no NO-BALL for not telling the side that the bowler bowls from.
46. Umpires reserve every right to declare a no ball with or without warning, if any bowler delivers under arm or throw ball (Chucking).
47. Byes, leg byes and overthrows are applicable in this tournament.
48. LBW (Leg Before Wicket) is not applicable.
49. “NO” ball and “WIDE” ball will be penalized according to cricket rules. One run and an extra ball will be awarded for a “NO” ball and a “WIDE” ball.
50. No free hit for “NO” Ball.
51. A batsman who retired hurt can ucome back and bat after the fall of next wicket or any wicket he wants to.
52. It is not mandatory for keeper to update the umpire when he keeps up to the stumps or goes back. No need to inform umpire when keeper changes from one player to another. Umpire can notify the batsman if he feels so.
53. Regarding player substitution, for e.g., if a player sits outside for 2 overs and comes back to field, then he can bowl only after 2 overs. If a player was substituted and didn’t comeback at the end of that innings, for him to bat, he has to wait the same number of overs he substituted while fielding.
54. Any ball which pitches and bounces over the batsman’s shoulder is a bouncer. Only one bouncer is allowed in an over. If the ball pitches and bounces over the batsman’s head and not played with the bat, it’ll be a wide and a bouncer. The second bouncer no matter the Batsman plays or not will be a no ball.
55. A beamer is only called when that particular delivery is dangerous to batsman. A bowler who bowled more than one beamer in a game will be taken out of the attack.
56. Only 5 fielders will be allowed on the leg side excluding the bowler and keeper. If the 6th fielder is placed, then it can be called a No-Ball irrespective of whether bowler is bowling over or around.
57. There may be no more than 2 fielders, other than wicket keeper, standing in the quadrant of the field behind square leg, which means more than two fielders standing between wicket keeper and leg umpire will be called as No Ball.
58. Delivery pitching outside the pitch is considered as NO ball.
