You can use the Unique ID widget if you need to add custom unique identifiers to your form entries. The Unique ID widget is not visible on the form and only generates unique IDs after submission, making it faster and ideal for high-traffic forms.
To set up Unique ID
- In the Form Builder, click the Add Form Elements in the upper-left corner.
- Go to the Widgets tab.
- Search and click Unique ID. You can also drag and drop it to the form to add.
- Set your configurations accordingly:
- Prefix — Add a string in front of the IDs.
- Unique ID Generation Method — Sequential Values is the only option.
- Current Index — You can define the index to start at any number. However, changing this value to lower than the current index in your form submissions may result in duplicate IDs.
- Number of Digits — Set your IDs to a fixed number by prepending zeroes before the IDs.
Note
- Adding the widget will automatically open its settings/properties panel on the right side of the page. You can open it manually by clicking the widget’s gear icon.
- If you’re looking for a way to generate a random value, use the Random Value Generator widget.

Hi, is this widget also useful to generate unique IDs (in our case: invoice numbers) across forms? We have different forms for different products/website pages, but want the invoice ID to increment independent of the form. Is this possible with this widget?

The problem is I need from 1 to 6 unique ID / based on the selection done by the user for every submission.
So the unique id is ok to identify the user but I need to build&add a secondo part of this code that identifies the items, a range from 1 to 6, related to the user.
Now I split the codes in two field, the unique id plus a talking code, but this is a workaround with some limitations. The best for me is a unique code for every items in a specific field, 1/to/6

Could you please clarify whether the IDs are incremented when a user begins the form, or when their response is submitted? Right now, we seem to have a situation where if user A starts the form, and then user B starts it before user A has submitted, they both receive the same ID when using the "Sequential Numbers" method.

Question Regarding a unique id.
How do i add a unique id to a form each time its submitted.
Lets say i have a list of numbers could be like this: 2019-90/35-4947, 2020-90/47-6605, 2020-90/47-7080, etc. (random and in no particulary order)
But I want each submitted form, to pick a unique number from this list. Never useing the same number twice, and in the end I should be ending up with a list that is empty.
Limiting the amount of times a form can be used by the amount of numbers in this text file each seperated by a , when its empty the submit button does not work as its required for a submit.
And it does not have to be a txt file i could be a table aswell i guess. If that would make it possible, how would this be possible within jotform?

Hi! I was looking at the Unique ID widget as a way to identify our unique members within our non-profit organization. Members currently register using our JotForm. My question is; once a unique ID is given to their member record, is there a way that we can use that unique ID to incorporate into a different Jotform allowing that person to use that ID number to gain access to "member price discounts"? I saw that there is a way to establish subfolders using those ID's. If you set up a sub-folder with all the unique ID's can those be used to pull from to verify the member status? I want to create an online form so that each person who registers either selects or is assigned a personal identifier, and allows others to search for them by this number. I also want others to see what is on their public form, but hide their email. The email would be an embedded link where the person would receive a message like "You've received a Gift."
Additionally, I want the identifier to stay with them through their purchases. For example, if a person clicks a link from my page to a vendor, then purchases something from that vendor, so that I get credit for that purchase. Is this possible?

I love the number system but is there a way it can be shown after each person submits? For example, if I have 200 people filling this application. I find the unique ID widget very disappointing. I cannot put the unique ID on my PDFs. I cannot use it as a unique identifier for Save&Continue. I cannot feed it into another field and then pipe that field onto other forms.
For us - we are trying to send Jotform documents to Docusign for legal signature. A unique ID would be very helpful for matching the docusign output to the Jotform PDF output. but we cannot do this. Is there any other way to create a completely unique ID so that forms do not get mixed up?

Serial numbers are great. But what we really need is a hash code that can't easily be guessed. For instance, a unique hash based on date and time and user input details, and that the user receives as a unique code to request some information etc in the future.
I had considered a code based on date/time and user email, for instance, but that would be pretty guessable. Even if I create an algorithm in the background that performs multiplications and substitutions that can still be decrypted.
Random numbers don't help: there's a chance to entries get the same number.
An MD5 hash or something in those lines would be awesome.

What is the html code that I should use (in the source code) in order to make the unique ID show up on the form? I have been able to make it show up, but then it was not unique, it was the same number every time, while the numbers that I received by email were increasing.
I want the customer to see the unique ID and then use it as an order number in the communication with me.
So, they need to see the unique ID and I need to receive it in my email so I can connect the details that were filled out in the form with the customer that is contacting me (or depositing me money in my account)

Thanks for getting back to me. Nice homework in researching my e-mail domain, unfortunately I am creating these forms for a different domain and am not sure that your solution will work and I'm still trying to figure out the workflow.
I think I can describe hopefully a more "doable" situation for what I need and would love your guidance and help.
1. Restaurant selects their Restaurant Name and/or Review Event Date from a drop down and then enters their e-mail to receive the password for the Response Form. (I guess a separate Submit form needs to be created)
2. An e-mail is then sent to them from the Submit form with info on how to open the Restaurant Response form.
3. On my website I would like them to enter the password received AND/or the Unique ID which would then bring up BOTH the completed Review Form and the Restaurant Response Form. (ultimate wish is to present both the completed Review Form & Restaurant Response Form side-by-side) This would allow them to respond to what was actually reviewed without having to flip back & forth between either two web pages or their e-mail & the Response Form.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, along with simple (very simple please) step-by-step instructions!

Question concerning the Unique ID?
1. I have created a review form with a Unique ID.
2. I have created a Response form for the "Reviewee" to respond to the inital review.
3. I would like to "link" or somehow attach the Response Form to the initial Review so that the Responder can see what they are responding to while completing their Response form. Hopefully you can follow that!
Please be gentle, I did search the forum for a similar question/answer but did not find one or did NOT understand if I did find it!

Can you just make a Unique Submission ID for me?
For example:
-Allow me to start with a letter or number
-Able to pick how many letters then how many numbers then how many letters then how many ....
-Ability to limit ID's entire length (e.g. 6 characters max)
-Ability to be unique to just that form or to all of my Jotform forms for each user account or unique to ALL users' accounts
