HOW DO BUZZ BUCKS WORK? WHAT CAN I USE THEM ON?

What are Buzz Bucks? Buzz Bucks are girl reward items earned for selling Fall Product and/or Girl Scout cookies. All expire on December 15 of the Girl Scout membership year they were earned. For example, Buzz Bucks earned during the 2024 Treats & Reads Season will expire on December 15, 2025 and those earned during the 2024-2025 Cookie Season will also expire on December 15, 2025.

Buzz Bucks may ONLY be redeemed through the Girl Scouts, Hornets’ Nest Council.

Buzz Bucks cannot be redeemed for cash.

Buzz Bucks are non-transferable except to parties within the same household and with written approval from the Girl Scout (can be a handwritten note).

How can Buzz Bucks be used? Buzz Bucks may be used to pay for:
- Membership Fees
- Items purchased from the GSHNC Shop only, not online
- Service Unit events and/or day camp
- Girl Scout resident or weekend camp (Council or Service Unit sponsored)
- Approved Troop/Group Travel (see Troop Travel packet for specific details)
- Girl Scout Destinations
- Highest Level Award expenses
- Girl Scout Lifetime Membership submitted to Council office by September 1st (Girl Scout Ambassadors who are graduating high school only)
- Don't feel limited, the last option (Alternative Redemption Form) gives you a chance to request the use of your Buzz Bucks for something we haven't even thought of yet!

GIRL SCOUT MEMBERSHIP:

Buzz Bucks can be used to purchase Girl Scout membership for the Girl Scout and anyone living in her household. This applies to the regular annual membership, not lifetime membership.

If a girl scout is a senior in high school and would like to purchase a lifetime membership with her remaining Buzz Bucks, we can process that with a request prior to September 1 of the year of graduation.

GSHNC Summer Camp
GSHNC Summer Resident Camp registration will launch on January 9, 2026. If you would like to use your Buzz Bucks for summer camp let us know how much below. We will then issue you a special coupon code to register for camp once it is launched.

Girl Scout Travel
Girl Scouts may request to use their Buzz Bucks towards their Girl Scout travel expereiences. All travel must be associated with a sanctioned Girl Scout group (GSUSA, Council, Service Unit, Troop, or tour group). Buzz Bucks may not be used for individual girl or family trips. Girl Scouts and/or caregivers do not receive cash to use towards the trips but GSHNC will pay the group for the covered expenses.

Girl Scout Highest Awards
Girl Scouts may use Buzz Bucks towards their approved highest award projects. Cash will not be given to any girl or caregiver, however we will reimburse paid expenses.

Once this option is selected and the appropriate receipts are submitted and approved, the caregiver will be reimbursed.
