  • Our Mission

MBS Training Club is committed to supporting our student-athletes by providing advanced instruction and opportunities that ensure the building of character through the use of team sports.  Our goal is to maintain a fun, encouraging, and positive environment while developing and strengthening skills where each athlete will be challenged to excel in order to take them to the next level. We provide our athletes with unique experiences that help them learn more about the importance of encouraging and serving others through teamwork and community involvement. We are dedicated to helping our youth become better citizens and student-athletes for both now and the future.

    Club Philosophy

We are committed to ensuring that every MBS Volleyball Club athlete has a positive experience that fuels their love of volleyball and competition. While we do provide our athletes with the highest caliber of volleyball training, it is equally important that our athletes learn life lessons that will stay with them long after their volleyball career comes to an end. Our coaches are role models, mentors, and above all, teachers. We will teach our athletes to be disciplined, compete and train at full effort, be a positive and supportive teammate, be a problem solver, push beyond their comfort zone, and compete with confidence and enthusiasm.

  • Section B: Player Expectations

To attend all practices and tournaments. If for some reason a player is going to miss a practice or game, it is his/her responsibility to contact their coach directly as far in advance as possible.

Be a team player; the team comes first, always and no matter what

Have a positive attitude at all times; encourage and support your teammates to the best of your ability whether you are on the court or on the sidelines

Demonstrate strong club/team spirit and pride.

Be a leader on and off the court.

Always show respect to all teammates, parents, coaches, and officials.Be the kind of teammate you would like to have beside you. Find ways to make your teammates better at every opportunity and celebrate team success.

  • Section C: Player Code of Ethics

I hereby pledge to provide positive support and encouragement for my teammates by following this Players’ Code of Ethics:

I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, and officials at every tournament, match, set, and practice.

I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my teammates ahead of my personal desire to win.

I will treat other players, coaches, fans and officials with respect regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.

I will encourage my teammates at all times and this encouragement will always be positive in nature, whether I am playing or on the bench.

I will not criticize my teammates or coaches to anyone at any time.

I will arrive at practice on time (or early) and will not leave early; if I must miss practice I will contact my coach in advance to be excused.

I will observe all training rules and other directions that I may receive from my coaches.

I will do everything I can to foster a playing and practice atmosphere that makes volleyball fun for everyone.

I will be prepared to play positions that are not my usual position because I know that when asked to do so it is for the good of the team.

I will take responsibility for my own decisions and understand that my playing time could be limited for missing practices and/or tournament days due to other events or activities of interest.

  • Section D: Practice Rules

Players should be at practice at least 10 minutes early.

Players need to bring their own water bottle to every practice so that they stay well hydrated and water breaks can be taken quickly.

Come to practice mentally prepared; have personal goals set for yourself before each practice.

No walking – jog or run everywhere.

Find ways to improve and have a specific technical goal to work on during every drill. Don’t just go through the motions.

Practice the way you want to play at tournaments. All of your habits and foundations for your play are created during practice.

Do not speak or distract teammates while the coach is communicating with the team.

Take care of the facilities. Remove all water bottles, paper, etc. from the floor.

  • Section E: Athletes Conduct at Tournaments/Practice Site

These guidelines are set forth to protect the safety and integrity of you, your parents, the coaches, and MBS Volleyball Club. Please be aware that all circumstances are not accounted for and in the event of an undue circumstance, the Director will enforce appropriate action.  It is the desire of the club to remain in good standing in the community and USAV and to be an example for excellence.

Equal playing time is NOT guaranteed. Coaches evaluate athletes during practices on a weekly basis. Playing time at tournaments is earned at practice. If you have a question about your playing time, set up a time with your coach to discuss the situation.

It is the philosophy of MBS Volleyball Club that each athlete will have some playing time in each match. However, we have great coaches and intend to allow them to do what’s best for the teams as a whole. There may be an occasional game that is of such importance to the team and is being played at a level of play that requires that only the strongest players stay on the floor, but this should be the exception, not the rule.

“Conduct unbecoming an athlete” will not be tolerated at any of the MBS Volleyball Club function/event. This covers a wide variety of circumstances, for example the use of foul language or rude gestures towards other athletes, parents, coaches, officials or opponents.

When we are in the gym for a tournament, you are responsible for staying with your team. In the event friends attend a tournament, it should be understood that your priority is with your team.

Proper nutrition is required. Practices will be very demanding on your physical abilities. Tournaments are an all day affair, and in some cases two and three days long. Your coach will advise you when to take breaks to eat. In all cases, it is important to stay well hydrated at all times.

For most tournaments, teams will be responsible for officiating, scorekeeping and handling lines.

No team member is permitted to leave a tournament site until all officiating responsibilities are completed. There may be circumstances for local tournaments where the head coach can give you permission to leave.

You are to support your teammates at all times while on the team bench, whether you are playing in a particular match or not. Poor bench behavior includes not expressing verbal/vocal support for your teammates, conducting side conversations taking other’s attention off the match, disrupting the match with inappropriate discussion with the coach or coaches, or questioning your playing time or status during the match.

Parents are to be supportive of the entire team at all times, and all MBS Volleyball Club teams while at tournaments. Parents are not to engage in any behavior in cheering that would reflect negatively on MBS Volleyball Club.  Guidelines for parents are no different from players in this regard.

Only the head coach or the team captain, under the direction of the head coach, may question an official.

MBS Volleyball Club has a NO-TOLERANCE policy on screaming, yelling, or making any derogatory remarks to ANY official (Up ref, down ref, or line judges) or tournament director. MBS Volleyball Club supports this policy. Keep in mind that referees are human and most of the time they are kids.

If any of the MBS Volleyball Club teams are playing at the same tournament site, athletes will be advised and teams will be encouraged to watch and cheer for other MBS Volleyball Club.

  • Section F: Maintaining Good Grades

We consider MBS Volleyball Club to be a club of scholar-athletes. It is important to maintain good grades. If we are to guide you through the process of becoming a better player, you must do your part in the classroom. Time management is a critical skill that successful student-athletes need. Players are expected to plan ahead and make sure that preparation for school work is completed well in advance of the assignment due date.

  • Section G: Dispute/Grievance Escalation Procedure

This procedure is designed to help athletes and parents with questions, concerns or problems that may occur during the course of the season. It ensures open and honest communication between all parties involved.

MBS Volleyball Club fully comprehends the value of parent involvement and encourages our parents to offer feedback whether positive or negative, but to do so in a respectful way. The below procedure is designed to help athletes and parents with questions, concerns, or problems that may occur during the course of the season. It ensures open and honest communication between all parties involved.

    1.     24-hour rule: If the athlete or parent has a concern arising from a tournament or practice that needs to be addressed, they must wait at least 24 hours after the conclusion of the event to discuss the issue with the head coach. We trust that parents will be timely in communicating with coaches regarding potential issues that would distract that coach from their primary objective of coaching the team.

    2.     Don’t approach the coach immediately prior to the start of practice, the coach must focus on the athletes’ and the training required during practice.

    3.     The athlete must first ask for a meeting with the coach to discuss the issue at hand. In the case of players on 13’s or younger teams, the parents may request the meeting, in which the athlete, parent and coach must be present.

    4.     If the issue is unresolved, the parents may ask for a meeting between themselves, the athlete, and the coach to discuss the issue. The meeting should take place at a location considered adequate for a private discussion agreed upon by both the parent and coach – NOT at a tournament and/or practice.

    5.     If the issue is unresolved, the parent may ask for a meeting with the club director, the head coach, and the athlete. The meeting should take place at a location considered adequate for private discussion, agreed upon by the parent, coach, and director and during a scheduled time away from practice or a tournament is appropriate. The decision of the club director at this point is FINAL.

It is essential that our parents serve as a support system for our club, players and coaches. To ask this, we, as the club director, staff, and coaches need to be available to empower parents and athletes with information and ensure understanding. When all parties share time together, the potential conflict creates a greater opportunity to learn from each other different strategies in how all parties can communicate effectively and be more congruent in cultivating a positive experience for our athletes.

  • Section H: Financial Agreement:

Club fees are due in accordance with the provided schedule when the athlete and parents accept a position on a team or having signed this agreement. In order to secure coaching talent, facilities, and tournaments, payments must be received when due.

Fees paid to the club are non-refundable except due to a season ending injury, illness, or relocation out of the area. In this instance, refunds may be granted with a written request, to the Director, accompanied by a physician’s report where applicable. Refunds will be pro-rated.

Any club fee schedule agreed to in writing must be adhered to. An athlete will not be allowed to participate until fees are paid as per agreement. This includes any fees due from previous years, and will prohibit players from tryouts unless payments are up to date.

Refund policy: Refunds are only allowed within 24 hours after the first practice for a 4% fee to cover processing fees on our end.

  • Section I: Parent Code of Ethics

I hereby pledge to provide positive support, care and encouragement for my child’s participation in the MBS Volleyball Club by following this parent’s code of ethics:

I will remember the game is for young players not adults.

I will place the emotional and physical well being of my son/daughter ahead of my personal desire to win.

I will support the coaches and officials working with my son/daughter in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

I will require my son/daughter to treat other players, coaches, fans and officials with respect, regardless of race, sex, creed or ability.

I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches and officials at every practice, tournament and in every game and match.

I will demand a sports environment for my son/daughter that is safe and free of drugs, tobacco and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all club volleyball events.

I will do my very best to make club volleyball fun for my son/daughter by encouraging him/her to go to practice and tournaments with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

I will get my son/daughter to practice and tournaments at the required times and be prompt in picking him/her up.

I will not question my son/daughter’s coach about decisions made with regards to playing time or positions played during a set, match or tournament.

I will abide by the zero tolerance policy for unruly spectators. It is understood immediate reaction from spectators to a specific event during competition is expected; however, continuous verbal assaults on referees or coaches will not be tolerated. The first referee has the power to "expel" an unruly person, coach or player from the gymnasium.

I will not try to “coach” from the sideline, criticize players, coaches or game officials or try to influence the makeup or operation of the team at any time.

24 hour rule: I will not approach coaches regarding team issues. We encourage player communication with their coaches. If I feel that I must address a team situation, I are permitted to contact the coach 24 hours after the event, or the last game of a tournament to discuss my concerns. At NO time will I approach a coach during practice or a game. I will not come onto the court for any reason during competition or during practices.

  • Section J: Parent Communication Responsibility Regarding Disabilities

When dealing with special behaviors, it is important for the coach (or anyone else who works closely with your child) to understand any limitations that your child might have so that our staff can approach each unique case appropriately. This includes informing us if your child is on a 504 or IEP plan or relates to the following:

Identified disabilities that impede learning to the point that the child needs specialized instruction in order to close the gap between the child’s own academic achievement and that of his/her age peers.

A child with a disability identified under the law who receives accommodations that will ensure their academic success and access to the learning environment.
