  • Thank you for your interest in preventing food waste. Food waste or wasted food describes food that is not eaten such as unsold food from a store or produce not used in home kitchens.

    Hennepin County is committed to saving resources by preventing food waste within all sectors of the food system through programs and partnerships. We want to know which strategies could help prevent wasted food at your home or business. Your input will help inform the Hennepin County Food Waste Prevention Plan. Survey responses will be aggregated and not associated with your contact information or your organization’s name.

    The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete.

  • Privacy Notice: If you wish to participate in a listening session, the county needs your contact information (contact name/business name, address, and contact email) for scheduling purposes and that is the only purpose for which the county intends to use your contract information. This information will not be made part of any written reports about this survey or the listening sessions. You may refuse to provide any or all of the information requested, and the information is not legally required. There are no consequences to you or your business for not providing the information, aside from not being able to participate in the listening session and the county not receiving your feedback about wasted food. If you choose to supply the contact information, the county, its employees, and its third-party vendor HDR Engineering, Inc. leading the survey and focus group work will have access to that information. Any data considered “private” under the MGDPA will only be disclosed under applicable law or court order.

    Data and information you provide about you or your business as part of a listening session may be considered protected nonpublic data under the MGDPA. The county is collecting this information to learn more about food waste. The county will use the information, which will not be tied to you or your specific business, to analyze food waste information and write a food waste reduction plan. You or your business are not required to provide any information and may refuse to provide any information requested in the listening session. There are no consequences for you or your business if you choose not to provide data, though the county may not obtain a full understanding of food waste at your home or business if you do not provide information. Information supplied in the listening session will be accessible to the county, its employees, and its third-party vendor HDR Engineering, Inc. leading the survey and listening session work. The county will treat this data according to the MGDPA and applicable law.
