• 2021 Nominations for Lang Awards

We invite you to nominate students, faculty, and staff for special recognition at the spring Student Work Festival and the Graduation Ceremony. Nominees should have an exceptional academic and/or service record in the award category. Below are descriptions for the various awards.

Please review and consider nominating yourself or other students. This is a great opportunity to recognize the outstanding members of the Lang community!

  • Spring Student Work Festival

Lang Community Leadership Award - ALL LANG STUDENTS
This award goes to students who display an outstanding contribution to the building of student community at Eugene Lang College.

Career Excellence Award - ALL LANG STUDENTS
This award is presented annually to a student who is nominated for their personal achievements, contributions to their organization/work site, demonstrated personal and/or professional growth, evidence of leadership, and academic record. In order to be eligible, students must have participated in at least one semester of experiential education: internship, practicum, clinical, field work, research or student teaching.

  • Lang Graduation Ceremony

Lang College Graduation Student Speaker - GRADUATING LANG SENIORS ONLY
Students nominated for the speaker position will be asked to submit a speech outline and a one-page abstract, as well as a brief biography. Based on a committee review of these materials, finalists will be invited to an audition, and a candidate selected to deliver the student address at Lang College Graduation.

Students interested in speaking at the University-wide Commencement can learn more about that process here (Deadline March 1).

David Woods Award for Humanitarianism - GRADUATING LANG SENIORS ONLY
This award recognizes a graduating senior for exceptional, ongoing involvement in humanitarian service to the community. It acknowledges a commitment to service not recognized by other means, motivated instead by the altruism of the student. The honoree must have an outstanding academic and service record, showing evidence of having extended herself or himself in an unusual degree to help others. This award was established in honor of David S. Woods, a New York City youth who died coming to the service of another. Eligible nominees will be contacted to submit a service resume/biography for consideration.
