### What is an NPS tool? Net Promoter Score (NPS) is an indicator of how likely your customers are to recommend your services or products. NPS tools measure NPS through surveys or other software.

### What are promoters, passives, and detractors in relation to NPS? Promoters are customers who scored favorable NPS results — a 9 or 10. Promoters are most likely to advocate for your brand or product. Passives are customers that scored around a 7 or 8 — rating your product or brand well, but not above and beyond. And last, detractors are customers who have scored anything below a 6. These types of customers usually have had a negative experience or outlook on your company. Detractors aren’t afraid to rate your brand or product poorly and should be approached with understanding and caution.

### How many questions should an NPS survey have? An NPS survey can be as short as one question: “On a scale of 1–10, how likely are you to recommend our product or service?” But you can also include follow-up questions to get more detailed feedback on a customer’s ratings.
