The trees in the yard and forest seem to be holding up well except for the red pines, they are sagging.
the ice is going to just have to melt of the car because it is too thick and hard to scrape. I do not see that many branches down in my area. the forecasted winds have not kicked in yet. My electric circuit still has power, but there are many outages around me. The area also has a majority of underground wires.

Highest radial accumulation measured was 0.53 inches (most branches had less, averaging 0.4''- 0.5''.) Flat ice accumulation was 0.62 inches. All precipitation throughout the event was in rain form, all freezing drizzle the first two days. By 5 PM Feb. 1, flat accumulation was ~0.55'' and radial accumulation ~0.38''. Between 1-6 AM Feb. 2, training freezing rain thunderstorms moved over with bouts of heavy rain with surface temp of 31˚F. This round dropped a large majority of the storm total liquid equivalent, but fell too hard and fast to accumulate as efficiently. However, tree damage and power outages saw a significant peak with this final round.First two photos show flat accumulation on stone mailbox and metal fence. In third photo (showing radial accumulation) the branch is drooping towards the northeast. During the freezing drizzle phase of the event, ice accumulation was almost completely non- uniform, concentrated on north facing sides. Freezing rain thunderstorms in the final round on the morning of Feb. 2 increased the uniformity of radial accumulation on the more exposed branches. Tree breakage dramatically increased with this final round and a 45 hour power outage also resulted. A row of utility poles were snapped off like matchsticks about a mile from here on RM 2243. The Feb. 2021 winter storms purged our trees of weaker branches or the damage would probably have been much worse. As it was, the ice damage was still more extensive than in 2021.

I was awoken this morning when a branch fell from a tree landing on a neighbor's car setting off its alarm. There may be more damage later when it warms up and ice slides off roofs. Freezing drizzle was light and intermittent through the day, increasing ice accretion from ~0.1'' at 8 AM to ~0.13'' by 4:30 PM. No damage noted at this time.Ice is concentrated on north and northwestward facing sides of metal fence and drooping tree branches. Up to 3/8'' ice found on fence, up to 1/4'' ice on branches. with little to none on sheltered sides, averaging both sides gives 0.19'' ice accretion on the fence and 0.13'' on the tree, respectively. No damage yet, probably thanks in part to Feb. 2021's ice storms which effectively pruned all weak branches from the trees.

Using converted #s, 0.8" less 0.6" = 0.2 inch of ice.
Side notes, the ice was mostly of the north-facing side of items such as rain gauge and vehicles. No power outage. Trees look fine, the cedar trees sag anyway. Have seen some traffic on highway, we are at the top of a "winding and steep" section; but I'm happy to stay here today.

The only advice to add to your otherwise excellent instructions: practice in daylight! (Not at 6:30AM in 23-degree darkness. And, yes, a headlamp is highly recommended. And, yes, Forrest was right: Stupid is, as Stupid does.)
For 24-hours, we have had freezing moisture/fog and a slight north wind. Temps not above freezing. Ice accumulations are on the north sides of everything. I live on a ranch so ranch roads are ok but our house sidewalks are slick. Water troughs are frozen. The lower branches on the desert willow trees are beginning to bend.
Overnight ice accumulation of .03 on vine branch near my rain gauge. I have a ruler divided into .01" which has proven to be very helpful.
The branch is north/south. The photo was taken facing east. The ice is on the north side.

Used digital calliper with 0.01 mm precision to make measurements on the dowel. Entered numbers are an average of the three sample locations. Horizontal thickness: 21.76 mm (0.857"). Vertical 25.96 mm (1.022"). Base (ice-free) values 18.97 mm and 19.02 mm respectively. On our property, a magnolia tree lost most of its top along with a medium-sized branch. A deodar cedar lost one small branch. One of the neighbour's Thuja hedgerow trees snapped about 2 m above ground level–nearly 15 cm diameter at the break point and fell into a grassy field along Chilko Dr. A large pine tree lost its top lower down the hill and fell into Mariner St. Many shrubs are permanently bent. All this from about 7 mm (0.3") ice accretion. More broadly, going westward, branch failures were scattered through the region through Port Moody and then they stop, with little evidence of damage in northern Burnaby along Hastings and into Vancouver. - - -

Measurements done with a digital calliper with precision to 0.01 mm. The measurements follow, with the locations (Loc) spaced 4" apart. Horizontal: Loc 1) 21.72 mm; Loc 2) 21.48 mm; Loc 3) 22.07 mm; Avg 21.76 mm. Vertical: Loc 1) 25.25 mm; Loc 2) 26.39 mm; Loc 3) 26.24 mm; Avg 25.96 mm. Given the favouring of one side, this translates to 7 mm (0.3") of ice accumulation. Ice accretion not smooth, but lumpy. On trees, especially conifers, the weight of the ice has caused noticeable bending and drooping. There have been local power outages, but no major impact to the power grid. Bridge and transportation closures were widespread. - - In the photos, the camera is facing SW, while the dowel is pointing to the NW, but tilted at a 32º angle relative to horizontal. Photos show the lumpy accretion at the top (skyward-facing side) of the dowel, and the near absence of ice on the underside.

Light rain began falling about 2 PM on the 22nd and began icing on my truck immediately but on the shovel handle I had positioned by the rain gauge to attempt to track icing, the first moisture was absorbed into the wood. The same appeared to be occurring on the concrete and pavement and to some extent on some of the tree branches.
My measurement of 4 millimeters was made on the top of a metal chain link fence supporting bar in my driveway.
As mentioned before, icing began about 2 PM but with little to no accumlation on roads or sidewalks. At 6 PM I walked around the neighborhoods and the roads were still mostly just wet probably due to traffic but by 7:30 PM scattered ice was forming on the roads and the sidewalks were unpredictable (fell walking up my driveway!)
At 7 AM this morning, everything had a visible glaze of ice, but not enough it appeared to be weighing down the vegetation except for very small bushes and power it still on(!) unlike 2013 when we could see and hear large tree branches breaking in our neighbors yard and power was out.

(see photo and more information below)

The temperature has been been at or slightly above freezing since before it started to rain approximately at 3AM.

- - This is my "dowel", the copper pipe on this rack. It is horizontal and oriented with the longest part running east and west. I took this picture about 90 minutes after the measurement was taken. Most ice has melted as it's been at or above freezing since before any precipitation started. Plus, it's raining again.

Some of the snow you see on the ground was already there as it has been patchy for days now. Open areas are crusted with ice. I do not believe any snow fell at anytime.

Is now screwed level to ground and holding a passel of instruments I'm testing for 3 meg's.

3/10 is thickest portion, oddly this is at 2ND TO HIGHEST PORTION of board! There was insignificant wind during rain (temp fell 35°/1.6°C to 32°/0°C over duration of rain/icing event). Ice coated all surfaces that were outside of the heat throw of a building (avg of 5 ft) making cars fully encased in ice, trees going to be gorgeous - so long as max breeze less than 12 mph (crashes the brittleness together, destroying the underlying cell structures and ruining that branch's ability to carry sap to any leaves or branches further on). Sidewalks, roads an experience; all road chemicals were washed away in 1 particularly heavy & fast downpour at 02:15. But the gutters are now very well protected;-)

I carry no devices when potential of ice; my caliper can be landed upon and still work or $55 to replace. But I'm disabled and fall as a matter of course when on flat, dry, and clean. It, snowy? In 5 yrs, 2 fractures (at 1x), and 2 dislocations (1x each shoulder over separate years). Being on crutches/wheelchair, that made me rather stationary. I don't carry phone except at darkness.

I've never had it outside for over 12 hrs without ice forming on it (that's why I took it out of the garden 8 yrs ago). 3 of 4 sides coated; 4th side is always the null or the dispositive of the condition (by design and shape, 1 angle will be antithetical to building up of the ice; it will be adjacent to wind direction while all others oppose or break the wind, thus gathering what wind carries (use same method in my 4 snow breaks for 4 snowpacks; each is sheltered from a different wind, so at least 1 will get a clear, clean snowfall with no wind effect).

Diamond had just under 1/8" then again 1/16" -- the gauge originally for photography of forensic evidence, has ALS, so gives my eyes advantage to see ice and scale where others see 0).

When I get a decent shot that shows it well, will send it off (all were too dark)

Not an entirely uniform coating, wind- sheltered portions of objects remained largely uncoated. Trees are faring fine, most hardly even drooping. Precipitation after daybreak was mostly sleet, with little to no new ice accumulation during the day before precipitation ceased in mid-afternoon. Icicles that formed on the underside of my dowel made it impractical to use that for measuring accretion.Photos are of ice measurements on top of a ENE-WSW oriented iron fence, and a hackberry twig pointing W. No impacts other than hazardous road conditions due to sleet accumulation. The roads didn't ice and the sleet began melting off the pavement and forming puddles in early afternoon despite cloud cover and temperatures in the mid 20s.
