This mural is in partnership with Hinds Feet Farm. Cain Center for the Arts and Hinds Feet Farm began our collaboration in 2023, debuting a first-ever public exhibition of artwork created at Davidson College by HFF participants.
The participants had a wonderful time and were excited to be exhibiting artists for the first time, with 16 pieces in their exhibition being sold. As the two organizations ended the exhibition, the decision was made that a partnership was clearly the next step.
This year, we are inviting artists in the Lake Norman and surrounding area to submit proposals for the opportunity to create a mural on Hinds Feet Farms' property.
The mural will be a "Barn Quilt" with a design derived from artwork created by participants at Hinds Feet Farm.
This is a unique opportunity for Artists/muralists to be a part of a fantastic partnership and project in the Lake Norman region.
This art project is a paid opportunity with the artists receiving $2000 for the labor and $1000 for supplies, totaling $3000 for the overall project.
Applicants can apply up until Dec. 15th. Once artists have completed their submission, a panel of judges will determine three finalists based on samples of work and their thumbnail example. Thumbnails should demonstrate a complete concept, and design of the work that is intended for the mural. Thumbnails should be as close to the "mural" as possible.
Submissions must include:
- Imagery, linework reminiscent of the provided images.
-Examples of their work from their professional portfolio
- A summary of why artists/muralists are interested in this project.
