Originally known as the British Air Weapons Championships, the first British Open Air Gun Championships (BOAG) was held on 19–20 October 1974 at the National Sports Centre for Wales in Cardiff. Built just three years earlier, the venue boasted state‑of‑the‑art facilities. At the time, NSRA Bisley and NSRA Aldersley did not yet exist, making Cardiff the ideal location for the inaugural event.
More than 50 years on, BOAG is still going strong. This fantastic weekend provides competitors with an excellent opportunity to test themselves against their peers and experience the air gun community at its very best.
For Sporter Rifle, there are three main competitions: the Championship, the Competition, and an Aggregate of the two. There are also a small number of concurrent competitions, but these remain the primary events.
