Home Education Approval Request

Instructions: Please complete this form, and upload any required attachments. If this process is initiated during the school year, the student must remain in school until the district and the parents agree jointly to the home education plan. (FPS - Framingham Public School)

If this is your first time applying for homeschool and your student has not previously attended Framingham Public Schools or you have an address change,  please complete the residency requirements below. If not, you may skip to the next section.
 

Please attach your Home Education Plan/s

Home Education Plans must address:

a. The instructional program to be taught, including the following subjects: English Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies (geography, history, U.S. constitution, and citizenship), the Arts, Health, and Physical Education. If you are using a curriculum developed by an outside organization, a copy of the curriculum is sufficient. If you are using specific text books, the title and grade level is sufficient. Please make sure your documentation references each of the required areas and the plan/curriculum for that area.

b. Time allocation in each of the proposed subjects per week. (Please note: Massachusetts State Law requires a minimum of 900 hours for elementary and 990 hours for secondary per year of instructional time).

You will be contacted by email or U.S. mail upon receipt of your application and school plan.

Failure of a home educator to abide in good faith by the procedures outlined may result in the School Committee taking action under Massachusetts General Law Chapter 76, sections 1, 2 and/or 4, upon the recommendation of the Superintendent.
