    Hi Alexander,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. Our German Support agents are busy helping other Jotform users right now, so I'll try to help you in English using Google Translate, but you can reply in whichever language you feel comfortable using. Or, if you'd rather have support in German, let us know and we can have them do that. But, it might take a while until they're available again.

Now, coming back to your question, note that in Jotform, the built-in phone number field has a fixed structure. It does not support extended or custom formatting such as optional digits, nested/optional brackets, or freely definable separators beyond the predefined formats. We only offer predefined formats (e.g., US, international) or an input mask via a short text field, using simple patterns like (###) ###-#### with fixed positions for digits. These masks do not support optional characters or nested brackets—all positions are fixed.

Let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.
