Podo: Support SpecialistHi Lebensfreude,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm an AI assistant here to assist you.
Let me help you with that:
From what you described, you are using Form Prefill (Form A → Form B → Form C). Prefill itself supports taking data from one source (a form, a table, or an integration) and creating prefilled URLs, but it is not designed as a chained data-passing mechanism between multiple forms. Also, Prefill is not a substitute for passing data from one form to another automatically during submission.
Here are a few checks and steps you can try when the Prefill builder shows a continuous loading spinner:
- Check the source form and fields
Make sure that the form you are selecting as the source for Form Prefill:
- Is a regular form in your account (not encrypted). Encrypted forms do not appear in the Form Prefill selection list and cannot be used with Form Prefill.
- Uses only supported fields for Prefill mapping (e.g. Full Name, Email, Address, Short Text, Long Text, Phone, Number, Date Picker, Time, Dropdown, Single Choice, Multiple Choice, Scale Rating, Spinner). Unsupported elements like Appointment, Input Table, Payments, Product List, Star Rating, and Widgets cannot be mapped and may prevent a proper setup. - Recreate the Form Prefill mapping step-by-step
Try setting up the Prefill again from scratch for just one step (for example, Form A → Form B) to see if the spinner still appears:
- Go to Publish in Form B.
- Open Prefill and choose Form Prefill.
- Select Form A as the source form and let the system auto-map the basic fields.
- Click Save Settings and then Add a New Prefill to open the source form’s table and create the prefilled URLs.
If this works, repeat the same for Form B → Form C. If the spinner only appears when you try to configure both chains at once, keep each Prefill configuration independent (A→B and B→C separately). - Try an alternative Prefill source (Tables Prefill)
If you need to reuse data across multiple forms, consider using Tables Prefill instead of chaining multiple Form Prefills:
- In the target form, go to Publish → Prefill → Tables Prefill.
- Choose a Jotform Table (for example, the table of Form A or Form B) as the source and map the columns to supported fields in the target form.
- Save the settings and click Add a New Prefill to select rows and create prefilled URLs.
This way, each form pulls data directly from a table, rather than relying on a multi-step Prefill chain. - Verify that you are not trying to use Prefill as live data passing
Please note that Prefill is meant to generate prefilled URLs from existing data. It does not automatically pass submission data from Form A to Form B to Form C at submit time. If your goal is automatic data passing on submit, you would need a different setup (for example, using URL parameters or other methods), not Prefill.
- Check basic environment factors
If the spinner persists even with a simple one-step Prefill setup:
- Try another browser or a private/incognito window.
- Make sure the form loads normally outside Prefill (open it in Build and in live view).
- Try setting up Prefill with a different, simpler test form to see if the issue is specific to one form.
If you can share which exact step shows the spinning cursor (for example, when selecting the source form, when mapping fields, or when clicking Add a New Prefill), and whether any of the forms are encrypted or contain many unsupported elements, we can narrow it down further. After we hear back from you, we’ll have a better idea of what’s going on and how to help.
Let us know if you have any other questions.
- Check the source form and fields

Norwyn Enterprise SupportHello lebensfreude_pflege,
Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I'm sorry to hear that the mouse keeps on spinning when creating a prefill. When I cloned the Form, I tried to do a Form Prefill and I got the same result. I've included a screencast of the test result below.
I created a ticket and escalated this to our Developers. Although we don't know exactly when it'll be fixed, we’ll circle back to this thread when we have an update.
