SMTP Authentication Error: Sender email address can't be added

    Hallo liebes Support-Team,


    ich kann leider keine Absender Email Adresse hinzufügen.

    Beim Versuch eine Adresse hinzuzufügen, erscheint folgende Fehlermeldung: SMTP Authentication Error.

    Es handelt sich um eine Microsoft 365 Mail.

    SMTP-Einstellung

    Servername: smtp.office365.com

    Port: 587

    Verschlüsselungsmethode: STARTTLS

    Username und Passwort sind definitiv richtig.

    Ich bitte um Ihre Unterstützung.

    Now, let me help you with your question. I am sorry this is happening. You can start with TLS security in Jotform for SMTP which is supported by MS Office 365.

This guide will show you how to do that. Also, please ensure that you are using the correct login credentials. Additionally, ensure that SMTP is enabled in your Microsoft account. And, you can check out this page to find SMTP settings from Microsoft.

    So, the credentials are definitely correct.

    TLS is on

    SMTP is enabled (see screenshot)

It's advisable to verify the accuracy of your login details and attempt the process again. It's crucial to emphasize the use of the password generated by the password app rather than your Jotform password.

    Hi John,

    so my credentials are definitely 100% correct.

    Microsoft told me that I have to use „STARTTLS“ instead of „TLS“. 

    But there is no option on your end tu use STARTTLS.

    Thank you for getting back with us. I am sorry that you're still having an issue setting up your SMTP server. I understand that it's difficult to troubleshoot the issue due to the lack of tools that would show the logs. This is definitely not the experience we want you to have. Based on this article by Microsoft, setting up SMTP requires a different kind of authentication, which means in this case, using your username and password is not going to work. The authentication only supports OAuth or using an access token based on the article. I'm no expert with Microsoft 365 services, so I highly recommend that you reach out to your IT admin as well to get more information.

    Additionally, you may also use an online check tool like this one to ensure SMTP on your account is working as expected (change your password after checking).

    Please try the instructions mentioned in the article and let us know how it goes. If the issue persists, please let us know, and we'll escalate the issue to our Developer Team.

    So the problem is that oauth is activated. And i'm no able to the figure out the correct authentication in microsoft to set up smtp without oauth.

    Thanks for getting back to us. Have you tried speaking to someone from Microsoft support to see if they can help with this? Have tried this tool to ensue that your SMTP is working correctly? Can you reach out to Microsoft and see if they are able to provide option?

    Once we hear back from you we can move forward with a solution.
