How to Change the Allowed File Types in the Upload Field

Last Update: July 17, 2017

Users often ask which file types are supported in the File Upload field. The default file extensions are:

pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, csv, txt, rtf, html, zip, mp3, wma, mpg, flv, avi, jpg, jpeg, png, gif

However, you can add or remove file types to this list whenever necessary. To learn more, watch this short video or refer to the text-based guide below:

1. Click on the GEAR icon to open the File Upload properties.

2. Go to the OPTIONS tab.

3. Type the extensions of the allowed file types.

🔘 Separate each with a comma.

🔘 Don't include the leading dots/periods (e.g. type pdf instead of .pdf).

🔘 Type an asterisk * to allow all file types.

How did it go? Do you have any suggestions or comments? Please let us know in the comment box below.

When I upload a file (PDF or doc)through browse button to my website & hit submit button I get email with all the fields on my form, but I cannot open doc file. When I click on it it shows zip file which I save on my hard drive & try to open it, it shows only xml files but no doc file. How can I get orignal file uploaded through form in my email.

You can allow all types of files simply by putting * in the box.

I have added several different file types to my upload button, but it still will not allow. I keep getting the following message:

(VTS_01_2.VOB has invalid extension. Only .pdf, .doc, .docx, .xls, .csv, .txt, .rtf, .html, .zip, .mp3, .wma, .mpg, .flv, .avi, .jpg, .jpeg, .png, .gif, .mp4, .mp3, .ppt, .pub, .m4a, .mov, .vts, .vob, .m4v, .m2ts, .dvr, .264, .mp4, .flv, .bup, .mts, .psd, .png, .MOV, mpeg-4 are allowed.)
even though I added to the list. please tell me what I'm doing wrong

I want only jpg or jpeg files to be uploaded so deleted all types but left
jpg, jpeg
on the list.

When I tried to upload a jpg file I get the message:
jpg file extension is not allowed. You can only upload jpg, jpeg files.
Please go back and fix this.

How? Does the list of allowed types have to be written differently?

Thanks, Tony

Возможна пересылка двух-трех файлов одновременно?

Good day! Do you know if they make any plugins to safeguard against hackers? I'm kinda paranoid about losing everything I've worked hard on. Any recommendations? ceacfddbbcekkdgf

If I have the google Drive extension in place, will zip files uploaded on my jotform be sent to my google drive? I primarily will have zip files uploaded so getting those to my Drive are my primary concern.
