Jotform makes it easy to create forms that everyone can use—including people with disabilities. If your form has accessibility errors, don’t worry. Jotform will help you identify and fix them so your form remains user-friendly and accessible to all.
Once you enable the Form Accessibility option, the built-in checker automatically scans your form for issues and displays warnings if any are found..
Accessibility Warnings and How to Fix Them
If your form contains elements that might make it difficult for someone to use—such as missing labels or low contrast—Jotform will display a warning. Here’s what each warning means and how you can fix it.
Poor Color Contrast
If your text is too light or blends into the background, it can be difficult to read—especially for people with vision impairments.
Warning: Your form’s color contrast isn’t good for web accessibility. Please change your color palette.
How to fix it: Change your form colors in the Form Designer, or use one of the accessible themes.
Input Background Color Is Too Light
If a field’s background color is too similar to the text or form background, it can be difficult to see.
Warning: The input background colors on your form don’t have enough contrast for accessibility. Please change your color palette.
How to fix it: Go to the Form Designer and pick a background color that stands out more from the text and surrounding areas.
Inaccessible Theme
Some themes may reduce accessibility and make your form harder to use for people with disabilities.
Warning: Your form has an inaccessible theme, please use the default theme.
How to fix it: Switch your form theme to the Default Theme, or use one of the accessible themes.
Empty Form Warnings
Form warnings guide users when they make a mistake—but they aren’t helpful if they’re left blank.
Accessibility Warning: Warning messages can’t be empty. Please update your Form Warnings in the Settings panel.
How to fix it: Make sure all your warning messages have text. For a quick how-to, check out our guide on How to Change Your Form Warning Messages.
Missing Submit Button
Users need a way to submit their responses. Without a submit button, they can’t complete your form.
Accessibility Warning: Your form must include a submit button. Please add a submit button.
How to fix it: Drag a Submit button from the form elements and place it at the end of your form.
Missing Field Labels
Labels help users and screen readers understand the purpose of each question or field.
Accessibility Warning: All form questions should have a label.
How to fix it: Click on any field with no label and type in a clear Label (like “Name” or “Phone Number”).
Missing Sublabels
Some fields have more than one input (like Full Name or Address). Sublabels help explain each part.
Accessibility Warning: Sublabels should not be empty.
How to fix it: Click on the sublabel to add text, or go to the field’s Properties and enter sublabels there.
Widget May Not Be Accessible
Some widgets may not work properly with assistive tools like screen readers.
Accessibility Warning: This widget may limit the accessibility of your form. Users with impairments may have trouble filling out your form.
How to fix it: Consider replacing the widget with a basic field or a more accessible option.
Missing Image Description
Screen readers can’t describe images unless you give them something to say.
Accessibility Warning: This image has no alternative text. All images must have alt text for accessibility.
How to fix it: Click the image field, go to Properties, and add a short description in the Alt Text box (like “Company logo”).
Lite Mode on Date Picker
Lite Mode removes some extra features, but it can also cause problems for accessibility.
Accessibility Warning: Lite Mode may cause accessibility problems for users. Please disable Lite Mode.
How to fix it: Turn off the ‘Lite Mode’ via the properties of the Date Picker field.
JotCAPTCHA Not Accessible
JotCaptcha isn’t screen reader–friendly, so it’s better to use something more accessible.
Accessibility Warning: JotCAPTCHA isn’t an accessible field. Please use Google ReCAPTCHA.
How to fix it: Switch to Google reCAPTCHA by going to the field’s Properties.
And that’s it! Once you’ve fixed the issues above, the accessibility checker won’t show any more warnings—and your form will be ready for everyone to use.

I would like to have accessibility enabled on a form that requires a signature but keep getting an accessibility warning. What is the best way to have a signature on an accessibility enabled form?
Thanks
Deb

Is there a way to not use the link provided with the Accessibility Enabled Form badge that links to a Jotform sales page? I.e., will the badge still show up if I delete the link? It's not that I don't want you to get sales, but I would like for my form to stand alone and not promote sales. Thanks.

Has any update been made to allow an alt tag for signature boxes so they are compliant?
