Ain’t no one builds a form like I do.
Dating back to 2014, I’ve made more than 400 forms using Jotform. Feedback forms, request forms, registration forms, contact forms, workout logs, voting forms — you name it. I’ve created forms to test functionality. I’ve created forms to solve problems. I’ve created forms because I felt like it.
That’s because I haven’t just been an employee at Jotform all these years; I’m a power user who’s had his forms filled out more than 10,000 times.
So who better to challenge how quickly Jotform AI can create common forms than me? If anyone could beat the machine, it had to be me.
To get a true side-by-side comparison, we had to test building the exact same forms. This means I began every test by first creating a form using AI. Then I timed myself recreating the same exact form using my own lightning fast fingers.
First, some ground rules
- To keep things fair, I timed the full process on both sides.
- For Jotform AI, that includes writing the prompt and generating the form.
- For me, that includes building the form from scratch — no templates, just the builder.
- The goal: Recreate the exact same form structure as closely as possible.
Feedback form
Specifically, I prompted Jotform AI to create a post-event feedback form, which is one of the more common types of feedback forms created through Jotform.
- Jotform AI: 34.8 seconds
- Me: 306 seconds
- Result: Jotform AI was 8.8 times faster 😲
Analysis: This wasn’t particularly close. Jotform AI’s version created several scale rating options and single option multiple-choice button questions, which are more time-consuming to do manually. Several questions were closely worded enough that I duplicated most fields to create the next question as a way to save time, but obviously I couldn’t close the gap. Jotform AI also thoughtfully included an introduction, which took me a moment to type out as well.
Contact form
The humble contact form is simple but mighty. I asked Jotform AI to create me a basic contact form. No frills.
- Jotform AI: 16.2 seconds
- Me: 21.6 seconds
- Result: Jotform AI was 1.3 times faster
Analysis: This was my best shot to beat the machine, especially since I prompted it to be basic. I’ll stand proud at my 21.6 seconds to build a form 😮💨, but Jotform AI was faster still.
Registration form
Registration forms come in all shapes and sizes. I prompted Jotform AI to throw together an event form for a school alumni gathering at a local bar, with a date and time.
- Jotform AI: 37.2 seconds
- Me: 68.2 seconds
- Result: Jotform AI was 1.8 times faster
Analysis: The AI took this one easy on me. Full Name, Email Address, and Phone Number were the first three fields it included, which are all preconfigured fields in the Jotform Form Builder and a click away from me adding myself. It then included a relatively simple Graduation Year option as a Short Text field and a question asking, “Will you be bringing a guest?” as a Single Choice selection field with only Yes and No as answer options.
Final verdict
I’ve spent years building forms as fast as possible. I know every shortcut.
And it still wasn’t close.
Jotform AI doesn’t just speed things up; it skips entire parts of the process. The more complex the form, the bigger the advantage.
