How Tiger Golf Gathering is still driving success with Jotform after 18 years

Our customers are the heart of Jotform. They’re the reason we’re not just still here after 20 years but still thriving. And among them stands a remarkable testament to our shared journey: Tiger Golf Gathering, our oldest active customer, which has been with Jotform since 2008.

The first tee: The origin of Tiger Golf Gathering

In 2003, the Clemson University men’s golf team won the NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, securing a historic victory that marked the school’s first NCAA title in any sport in 16 years. In the years following, several players went on to achieve professional success, including six-time PGA Tour winner Lucas Glover.

Yet despite the magnitude of the team’s achievements, the Clemson golf community felt that the win didn’t get the recognition it deserved. Rather than let the victory fade quietly into history, they decided to honor it by creating the Tiger Golf Gathering.

It began as a simple idea: To invite every person who had played golf at Clemson back to celebrate their national championship win. But as the date approached, the vision grew bolder. Why stop at a reunion? Why not host a full-scale celebration? Add a charity auction to support the golf program? Create the Tiger Am, pairing amateurs with former Clemson players and pros?

What was originally planned as a one-day gathering quickly evolved into a two-day extravaganza fueled by pride, nostalgia, and a determination to give the players the spotlight they deserved.

As the event expanded, so did the logistical challenges. The committee needed a way to manage registrations, collect participant information, organize teams, and handle fees. And at the time, their system for doing all of this was painstakingly tedious, with PDFs that had to be printed, manually filled out, and faxed to the appropriate teams.

Complicating matters, the committee had no technical background and no budget to hire coding support. After a cursory Google search, they discovered Jotform, a solution that empowered them to build and manage their forms with ease, and laid the foundation for a partnership that would span the next 18 years.

A partnership that’s gone the distance

Tiger Golf Gathering’s continued loyalty to Jotform hinged on one major theme: reliability.

“I guess it goes back to the old adage that if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” says Michael Whitaker, longtime Tiger Golf Gathering committee member. “In more than 20 years and thousands of submissions, we’ve never had anyone flag form or data problems. There’s real peace of mind in knowing Jotform will always work.”

Since its founding, the event has continued biannually for nearly 20 years, hosting thousands of Clemson golf community members and raising an average of $250,000–$275,000 per year to support the Clemson golf program and statewide golf organizations.

“We started off as pretty basic Jotform users, and the platform itself was relatively rudimentary back in 2008,” Whitaker notes. “But it’s been exciting to grow alongside Jotform and watch it become more advanced and intuitive with every update.”
