- Core switch is not located in the same room as the DMZ. Nomadix originally had the NUC connected directly to it via eth1. Eth5 of the Nomadix connects to a cable that leaves the room. DMZ switch is unmanageable. Tech is going to confirm thelocation of the core switch.
- Core switch located in a wall mounted rack across the lobby from the DMZ switchand other 'mdf' equipment. Tech is in the process of toning out cabling to see if there is a working secondary link we can use. End goal would be to move Nomadix, WG and Supermicro over to other 'closet', however we need at least 2 cable runs between the closets, one for the ISP/DMZ vlan and one for the serial link between the new supermicro and the pms.
- Per technician, there is no secondary cable run between the DMZ/MDF and the rackhousing the core switch across the lobby. Fernando estimates the run is ~500ft,with hard ceiling in the lobby. There are access points in the ceiling, so it is doable, but would need an extender orto an a small IDF to bridge the gap.
- Site IT Robert confirmed the ISP is actually located in the same closet as the core switch and the pbx equipment. Switchin Sales Office closet is mislabeled ascore dmz. Looks like there is still only one cable feeding that closet, and ithouses all of the Marriott network equipment, so can't use that cable for pms link.
- Attempted to access dmz switch via console but no luck. Tried a few different settings and bauds, see bad traffic pass but zero ability to login. Don't want toreboot as this would interrupt current inhouse group.
- Plan for redispatch will be to move WG,Supermicro and Nomadix to correct closetand recable ISP feed to create a DMZ VLAN on the real core, the 5406zl switch.
- Site found another cable linking pbx closet to the Marriott Network/Sales closet. So we will have 1 cable to feed the DMZ switch to continue providing service to the Marriott networks, and 1 cable toprovide a link between the SuperMicro and the PMS server. Will need to redispatch regardless and plan for significant downtime on the guest network, up to an hour.
- Move Nomadix to appropriate location, and to complete Nomadix captive portal configuration.
- WG installation and configuration.
- Supermicro configuration.
