I am able to download my data, but the number in the currency field is not downloading as a number. It is showing up in Excel as an alpha character. I would like this to be a field with a currency on it. Can you let me know what I am doing wrong so I can resolve the issue?

    Hi wayne42,

Thanks for reaching out to Jotform Support. I cloned your form and tested it to see if I could replicate the issue, and I ran into the same issue. When I looked at your form, I saw that the field for the invoice amount wasn't configured correctly. Let me show you how to fix it:

    1. In your Form Builder, select your Invoice Amount field and click on the Gear Icon.
    2. Under the Short Text Properties, go to the Options tab and change the Validation to Currency.
    3. Next, go to the Advanced tab and enter the Default Value with your preferred currency symbol. Download Numbers to Excel Image 1 Screenshot 50

That's it! Test your form, and you will see that a currency is added in the field:

You will then see that the amount column will also contain the currency symbol.

After downloading your Table as an Excel document, a currency is also added to each amount.

Give it a try and let us know how it goes.

I made the changes, but whenever I download the file to Excel it does not come through as a number. It looks like it does, but Excel sees it as a character. It works fine for my last column as Excel see that as a number. Can you help me correct the currency column?

    Thank you,

    Wayne

    Hi Wayne,

Thanks for getting back to us. Unfortunately, adding a dollar sign ($) to the amount will result in Excel treating the field as a character, since it can't automatically differentiate which is the currency and which is the amount. I'm afraid that if you want to download the submissions in Excel and have the amount as currency, you keep the Short Text field's validation as currency and remove the dollar sign. Then manually set the currency in Excel once the submissions are downloaded.

Let us know if you have any other questions.
