"File Upload" option/button - question?

If I have a form and utilize the "file upload" button or option...... how does that look / what happens with the email notification it sends out... are those files attached?  How are they retrieved?  If those files are images would/could they appear in the email notification(s)?

The files get saved in our server and the email notification sends a link so you can download the file. If you use the widget Image Upload Preview it is possible to see the image in the email notification, else only a link will be visible:
