Can I create a unique ID per record?

A client has requested the following for an enquiry form I am developing them:

Is it possible that we could give each enquiry a unique reference number and which gets allocated to their enquiry when they press “submit”?<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Can you advise me on this as my short investigation suggested that unique IDs are not by default shown for submissions.

    Thanks Mark

This is currently not possible. However we are planning to implement it within next month.

Exactly what kind of number would you like? Would it need to start from a number you choose or just start from 1, 2, 3 etc.? Or should it be completely random number such as 12966412986?

I could see a use for all of these options:
    1) Starting from scratch has its uses of course
    2) Starting from a specific number means you can append to an existing db sensibly...

The client has a need for unique ref number as per the statement string.

Thanks for letting me know status

    This feature is completed.

You can edit your Email Alert to use this feature. Open "Email Alerts" go to "Compose Email" window.
From right side click on "Unique ID". This will put "{id}" tag in to your form. This id is the unique submission id.

    Thank you.

Thanks for this. Can I ask whether one can implement it into the excel/csv file for download. I think this is what they are after - to map it to the unique ID in their DB

Thanks for your help - appreciate it

I noticed this in the email response options but when I tested it, the unique id was a very long string of numbers. Is it possible to have only a four or five digit number?

We are sorry, unique id's cannot be four digits.

We will add unique id's to the report in the following weeks.

    Thank you.

It would be really useful for us to add our own ID in this area. We want to start getting our users to submit Design Briefs to us using this form.

With our current system (done by paper) we are allocating a Job Number to each brief and are currently at something like Job 6198. It would be really useful if when we start using JotForm we could automatically start from our latest job number and seamlessly integrate it into our system.

Many thanks, JotForm is an excellent product.

Agreed. I need to have a sequence with predefined combinations.

For example: Customer ID + Order #

Really love what you guys have done here. Best in class.

Thanks to all who shared their thoughts about this feature. Currently, JotForm has this feature although the ID # being generated is more than 5 digits. We're still determining how to come up with a shorter ID # that would fit most, if not, all of JotForm members' requirements.

For now, please feel free to use the ID # feature as described by Seyhuns above. Again, thank you very much  for using JotForm!

I would also be very much interested in adding our own id starting from e.g. number XY, which i could input in my form development page. The jotform id is too long to reference for our staff and for the customer. Thank you! Marc
