Why does my form not work consistently

Asked by BigPictureSales on June 09, 2012 at 04:29 AM

It only populates the full form with 20 lines and the submit | print buttons at the bottom around 1 out of 10 trys. I also cannot embed the text into Zoho sites with iframe - it also corrupts the same way

When you say "It only populates the full form", can you explain to us in detail what you mean?

    Looking forward to your response.

If you go to this page on my site http://bigpicturesales.com/Platinum-Orders.html

The Click Here link is the only thing I could use since the form doesn't work embedded with iframe which you will see - none of the other embed codes worked either - I embedded the iframe code below the link so you could see what it looks like.

If I click the link 20 times in a row to open the form in a different browser window I only get the complete form about 2 or 3 times. The other times its just bits and pieces of the form or submit and print buttons at the top of the page.

    I'm using Google Chrome.

I checked your iframe code and it shows to have these properties:  width="400px" height="600px".  These values are not enough to make your form fully appear on your page.  So there is a high possibility that what made your form look appear properly are those times that your page was not able to load the page completely.

The width should be set to 100% while the height should be 1782.

Also, if you're going to use the same code that you have, please do not include 'px'.  Example, it is incorrect to put height="1782px".  It should be height="1782".

Or better yet, you can try getting a new iframe code.

Please let us know if you have further questions.

I just figured that the iframe code was replaced by zoho.. this is why you're having the problem.  Anyway please edit the content of your iframe and then change the height from 600 to 1782. And width to 100%.

It seems that when you enter an iframe code without the height and width property, it generates a value of its own.

Please let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi, thanks for  your tips. I made the code changes as you suggested - here is exactly what I pasted in - your system automatically generates the width as 100% and the height as 1852px

    <iframe allowtransparency="true" src="//form.jotform.ca/form/21591422511242" frameborder="0" style="width:100%; height:1782; border:none;" scrolling="no">

Here is how it appears on the site http://bigpicturesales.com/Platinum-Orders.html

Even this basic link has still never functioned showing all 20 lines - Submit buttons still at the top of the page overtop of the fields. https://jotform.ca/form/21591422511242

Sorry if I wasn't clear.  CSS codes require px while HTML tag attributes do not.  Anyway to not confuse you any further, try pasting this code instead:

    <iframe allowtransparency="true" src="//form.jotform.ca/form/21591422511242" frameborder="0" width="100%" height="1782" scrolling="no">

Take note of the difference that I removed the CSS inline style attribute.

Thanks, it looks slightly better but only shows 1 product line and not 20 lines also the fields on the far right don't show up and the submit button is still up top. Is there a better way to make this form, since it doesn't seem to jive?

    I appreciate your help.

The problem I noticed why the rest of the form is not appearing is because some fields are actually sitting side by side, and not actually placed on a new line.  There seems to be a bug with Google Chrome to which why the contents of your form are actually not wrapping.

What you can do 1st is find the fields that are causing your forms to actually stay on a single line by expanding your form's width to somewhere 2000px.

Next, you'll notice that the other fields will move side by side.

What you'll do next is set the fields to be placed on the next line by selecting the field and press move to a new line until you get all the fields to be placed to its desired position.

Next, reduce the width back to 650 and save your form

Okay thanks. I put them all on a new line this time with no side by side and it still doesn't work. The link portion works but not the embedded one http://bigpicturesales.com/Platinum-Orders.html

It's way to short and not wide enough. Any advice?

Hi, upon checking the page code of the website where the form was embedded, I noticed that the iframe code still used for width/height 400/600 respectively.

This is causing the display of the form being cut-off.

Is there a way for you to manually change them to the appropriate number as suggested already by liyam for the form to fit in the iframe container?

    Please update us.

I copied your web page on my test site and adjusted the iframe code dimensions to match the form. And I can view the full form.

You can check the source code (Right-Click /view source) if like.

Thanks for all your help. It looks like the only way I will be able to use the form is via link - which now functions since following the previous advise of not having fields side by side.

I can't seem to keep the measurement codes the same even though I change them in iframe. It must be getting overridden by Zoho sites and I don't think I can change it. Thanks again.

    Hi BigPictureSales,

Thank you for the update and we are glad that you got it sorted out for a resolution on your end.

I see that the https "linked" method for the form is working fine indeed.

I could not make a further test on a Zoho sites pages since I do not have a test site for it. But you could be right, perhaps Zoho has limitation on its end, and does not allow custom iframe dimensions applied on its page templates.

Thank you very much for considering our services and JotForm.
